“I visited the Paper Crane looking for a very specific archival pen to sign some of my woodworking pieces. I just happened upon the store while walking my dogs and it was such a great surprise. I only purchased a $10 set of pens but the customer service I received was wonderful and better than other stores when I have spent 100s of dollars. I think it was the two owners that helped me and they were very kind and I could tell they genuinely cared that I got what I needed. They also had the exact pen my previous internet research said would be best. Shop small!”

“I LOVE Shelby's Garden! A few years ago a dear friend got me some beautiful yet minimal bracelets from here and I have since purchased many other pieces, really unique stuff and reasonable price, don't think I paid more than $30 for a piece. Was wandering in here a few weeks ago needed some retail therapy, and decided to smell their scent selection, smelled this Capri Blue Volcano hand lotion and went to heaven. The smell immediately comforted me, seemed so familiar but I couldn't quite place it. I go home to research (I thought maybe it was the scent of one of my Vegas cainos and thats why i recognized it lol!) and of course - it's the scent Anthropolgie uses in their stores! Addicting and a known universally accepted scent! To the point where a man stopped me on Laurel and said "Ma'am I'm sorry if this comes off wrong but you smell AMAZING" =) (fun fact for single ladies: based on research men really like citrus or vanilla/pumpkin yes pumpkin scents on women and this is mostly citrus with light floral base notes! Isnt that something...). I asked my husband how he Iiked this because he's never been in an Anthropologie or to Shelby's and he applied like 3x to his hands and sat there sniffing them like Molly Shannon in Superstar. What a fun cute store to browse there is all sorts of stuff the owner must hand-pick everything because it's so charming and there is always something new/fun/pretty/cute to buy!”

“Such a friendly and welcoming staff! I came in randomly to find a cute comfort stuffed animal for my mom while we grieve my father's ascent to heaven/the afterlife. I wanted something sunny and happy-looking while also huggable. The guy with the cool haircut with the shaved sides showed me several great and cute options and helped me find the exact type of toy I was looking for. I appreciate his patience and empathy while we toy hunted. I will definitely be back for the great customer service and their extensive Pusheen plushie collection!”

“Such a sweet little unexpected gem, full of treasures and trinkets, antiques and vintage jewelry. It's the sort of shop your grandmother or somebody's mom might've run back in the day, you'd be able to get lost for at least an hour rifling through random little things, odds and ends, e.g. books and artwork, necklaces and earrings, rings, little board games and the odd bit of clothing you thought you'd never find. The prices are also from yesteryear. The display of merchandise is also oddly adorable and artfully placed. I didn't have my phone when we went inside, or I so wished I could've taken photos. Oh well, next time.”

“This is at the San Francisco zoo Cafe in there. Finally covid it's winding down the zoo was pretty busy . But it was so nice after a year of being locked down to see families out and about. The lion and tiger cages aren't open the gorilla exhibit as well was down but they're working on new and bigger exhibits overall their landscaping there is beautiful I forgotten how beautiful it is. There's plenty of places to sit down all the water faucets are all closed up they follow all the sanitary rules there for this covid they have the giraffes and zebra and ostriches are all together in an exhibit at the zoo it's really nice they're out in the open? and they have a really awesome bird exhibit where you can walk in and watch the birds fly around it's great. When you have time go visit the San Francisco zoo.”

“I've shopped in here a handful of times and love venturing into this one-of-a-kind gift and more store. I first discovered the owner/artist at a pop-up event at SF city hall with all her cards and activity books which was something I didn't know I really needed until I saw it!Now that she has a store, my kids and I love to stop by any time we're in that square for groceries or boba tea. The shop has so much to offer, from original art to california poppy seeds to books to cards to earrings, and more.”

“I love this place. I haven't found any place that can match their price. Believe me, in the beginning I took the jewelry that I bought from Royal Ruby to my neighborhood mom & pop jewelry store to be examined (because the price was so low) and they told me it was good quality and that they could NOT match Royal Ruby's price. I trust them now and shop at Royal Ruby but I also buy at my neighborhood mom and pop jewelry store. I highly recommend Royal Ruby. ?”

“This small local shop has been my favorite shop since I discovered them 9 years ago. They have everything and anything you are looking for in a gift shop. Even when I don’t need a gift, I will pop in and discover something beautiful and new like a cookbook or salt and pepper shakers, hand lotion or a piece of jewelry even. They have one of the best collections of new jellycat stuffies that my kids and I love. Visit this shop, you will not be disappointed.”

“It's November, and a (not) young man's thoughts turn toward "what the hell do I get my wife for the holidays this year?" Hence, my annual trip to HMB boutiques and other stores, looking for near stuff. That always requires a stop at Tokenz. I went with Blondie, which was useful. I focused on the clothing, as always. Their entire inventory is on the floor, so I could see whether any small sizes were available The Wife. The answer this year was, not too much. A light robe that I really liked was only available in XL. Perfect for Blondie, who loves it! They also like some of the earrings on display. Shopping for Blondie accomplished, but nothing for The Wife :(. This store is also heavy into stones ,crystals, and related items that don't do anything for me. The clothes, by Kathmandu imports, are my reason for a long drive.”
