“Who hired Andres? You have a keen eye for talent. Please fill your store with more like him. He crossed paths with me at the entrance. I had a mulch exchange which I'd purchased the wrong color. The initial contact, the usual not so friendly front end customer service you don't have your receipt...blah blah...never mind that I spend thousands of dollars at this store chain yearly. Never mind that not only was I replacing with a correct color but purchasing more bags, but ok ladies, I have a broken rib and no strength to care so I will allow you to be condescending and feel important, just give me my mulch. I still have Andres. He hauled the cart with the wrong color bags to the garden, loaded now 10 bags of the right color, plus two bags of GroMulch and was ever so happy to do so. Management keep an eye on this man and give him what he deserves. Don't lose him and hire more like him. “I had a new fiberglass door installed in my garage and had work done on my existing front and back doors. I wish I could give Tami and Woody more stars! It took some time to get the project scheduled as the business is essentially a two person operation (Tami, who runs the office and Woody, who does the installation). The price they quoted me for the work was fair. Tami did a great job with scheduling and taking care of any concerns I had. Woody is a true craftsman. But what really sets SGSD apart from most other businesses is the high level of integrity they possess. Woody had to do far more work than expected to install a new shoe on my front door, but refused to take any more money then was originally bid, even though I offered. After the job was completed, I had a small issue with the new door they installed. I called Tami, who apologized and had Woody out to rectify the situation within a week. I was extremely pleased with the job they did and would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone seeking quality work at a fair price.”

“Rockler’s store in Pasadena CA is staffed with knowledgeable, friendly people. Many of them are experienced woodworkers, mixed with some younger folks who are still learning the craft, but seem engaged. Rockier carries a wide range of tools, spanning from big, expensive power tools to small hand tools, as well as a lot of finishes, adhesives, and other expendables. They have a good, though not great, selection of hardwoods. Their supply of quartersawn oak usually disappears rapidly. I always take a few minutes to rummage through the “cutoff” bin at the store entrance, where one can sometimes find good bargains in smaller pieces of wood. For example, I recently picked up a 3 x 3 x 12 block of bubinga what will make a great Krenov style plane.”

“This is A Great Store! Doesn't look like much from the street (careful you don't miss it!), and it's not Huge inside. But they absolutely know the right stuff to stock. This recent trip I needed 3/4" drop-in concrete anchors. Not a common item. HD didn't have it. Not even Hilti stocked them. I should've came to this Ace Hardware 1st. Not the only time this location has surprised me. Only store better for heavy duty hardware are places like McFadden & Dale's which are few & far between. The place feels a little crampt, but that's ok as long as they keep stocking the right stuff. Found some good commercial sized fuses & hard to find brass fittings there as well. Chances are, LB Johnson's got what you're looking for!”

I had a leaky shower valve to fix and the kind lady helped me step through the items that I needed to complete the repair. Fortunately the store is not far away, so going back and forth to the store while diagnosing the issue wasn't an issue. A HUGE plus for this local gem of a hardware store. The parts and tools I purchased were of good value and made in Taiwan. Fixing the leaky shower was made much easier by this store.
