List prices on every book I saw... which are outrageous. $50, 60, 70+ on most nice non-fiction books that I saw. If you're rich, you'll love it. If not, it's best to just browse here. Wish I could afford to shop here more.”

“When I shop for gifts outside of my neighborhood (East Hollywood), Retreat is my go-to. Diane, the owner, has curated a wonderful collection of jewelry, art prints, cards and fun gifts for virtually any occasion. Despite this shop's relatively small size, it is packed with goodies. My go-to is always the card section, where I invariably find a card for an upcoming birthday or, even better, the perfect card for a friend who could use a pick-me-up or a good laugh. My stationary drawer is packed with Retreat cards that I've got on the ready and I am very grateful. There is a great range of options in terms of price. You can find very fun patches and charms for around ten dollars. If you are looking a bit higher-end, there is a lovely collection of jewelry: but you are definitely paying for quality work that will be appreciated. Diane and the various employees are invariably friendly and eager to help you find something perfect for your friend or family.”

“Carlos and his team have been my go to art installers for years now. Not only are they Covid safe, but if you want a piece of art (or many pieces of art) hung the right way, please contact him. He has such a keen eye for where the piece works best on the wall, you don't have to do your own measuring. He and his assistant (usually his son or daughter) have all the equipment they need to hang your art. This is a family run business (who doesn't want to support that). I cannot say enough about Preferred Picture Framing and Carlos and his team! He was actually referred to me by one of the most prominent art framers in all of Los Angeles. He is the absolute best in the business.”

“For years this shop was originally on second street. It was fully supplied with items for the kitchen, dining, and other Japanese items. This shop is much smaller, no room to roam around like the other shop, where you could ogle and awe at wares. The owner of this shop is helpful. They have an adequate selection of ikebana vessels from Japan unlike anywhere else in LA. The prices are average considering import costs. Overall this shop is an important mainstay in the Japanese community.”

“My friends and I were walking around after having dinner at Fishwives when we came across Homage. I'm happy we decided to stop by. This is such a magical little shop to walk around and see all the neat things that they offer. They have a selection of bags, jewelry, cards, candles, books, pins and stickers, and all sorts of other lovely items. They have such impeccable taste and I have to stop myself from buying everything. The staff is so kind and helpful. My friend was interested in a necklace and the staff showed her that it could be tied off for a different look. She was also very patient while my friend looked through all the gems because they had such a gorgeous assortment of colors that it was hard to choose. The reason I'm giving 5 stars is because of their service. Unfortunately, they ran out of the sticker I wanted. The staff took down my number and called as soon as they had it back in stock. They only order 12-18 of each sticker so if you like it, just get it! I also asked for a little paper bag to hold my purchases and they delivered with a cute tiny bag that's perfect for gifting.”

“I was looking for a couch that would fit our needs and not leave my wallet crying. I found Tempo on Offer Up and called to find out they have two locations. We visited one shop and found the right couch for us, but unfortunately only the display model was there. However, they were kind and accommodating and called up the other location to have them wrap the couch and have it ready for us to pick up that night even though it was about to be closing time. We got our couch that night and it has been perfect for us. This place has a lot to offer aside from couches, a great selection at reasonable prices.”

“Such a cute shop! If you're looking for a unique gift, this is the place to look. The assortment of home goods (i.e. plates, bowls, knives, etc.) all look gorgeous and perfectly crafted. Anyone looking for a useful but also aesthetically pleasing item can find it here. I also appreciate that the tables were spaced out so we were able to push a stroller around comfortably without fear of knocking anything over. In the back left area, it also looked like they served Japanese matcha! Gotta check that out next time.”

“Best place to get a variety of rare and healthy plants in LA! Elton and his team are very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and go above and beyond so you will leave very happy. Even with so many customers in and out, Elton remember us though we haven’t been there for a while. Even though they were so busy, they will happily answer questions you have and help your plants thrive.Rainbow also has very cute pots of all sizes! Their price is unbeatable and on top of that they gave us discounts on top of discounts. They get new plant shipments every Friday. So I searched for nearby furniture stores and Google led us to LA Furniture Store.We went on a Saturday and were greeted by their friendly staff (they were great people!). “This is a long overdue review. There were a bunch of delays in my project and I kept juggling options for purchasing and storing the flooring. Everyone working there (the Monrovia store) was fantastic--really friendly and helpful in working through the options.I got the Bellawood Geneva White Oak. It looks great, with lots of cool patterns in the grain. I've had it for about a year, and it looks as great as ever--no bulges or gaps or anything. It does have more knots than the sample in the store had, and the bigger knots are filled with some sort of brown putty. So, you might want to check those out to see how you feel about them. They don't bother me at all, and I would buy the same flooring all over again; I still love it.I'll post two pictures, since my camera phone is horrible at actually capturing color, and the two pictures are different enough to warn you not to trust the color in the pictures.”

I'm so happy this mom and pop store has been able to thrive over the years as it truly is a favorite to visit in my town and it's terribly hard to be in business these days. They do such a good job with their Instagram page and promoting their awesome themed art shows and various art events. I love their annual pet show as always come home with portraits of my dog from the artists that attend. I love that you can order online. They helped out a lot during the pandemic. They are always so helpful when you go in too. This last weekend I went in to find some Valentine's Day gifts for family members and sure enough left with some fun goodies. “My family and I were looking for Christmas decorations for our tree and saw this lovely store near Old Town Pasadena. All the beautiful, unique wreaths caught our attention and turns out the owner designs and makes decorations for all seasons and holidays. We looked at many stores around the area, even on Etsy, for decorations and nothing compares to the items you’ll find here. We found this beautiful Fall wreath and she made us 4 large red/gold ribbons. The two ladies were very kind and helpful. Definitely come and visit!”
