Two familiar names now share one storefront. Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store opened their first co-branded location in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 16, and the concept is spreading to nearly two dozen stores in what the company calls phase one.

In April, Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced plans to buy The Container Store for $150 million in stock and convertible notes, then laid out a phased integration that brings Bed Bath & Beyond merchandise into all 98 Container Store locations.

Shoppers who walk in will find the old floor plan stretched. The stores keep The Container Store's kitchen, bath and closet departments, then add small appliances and textiles. Dining, bedding and curtains come back from Bed Bath & Beyond, along with the towel wall that longtime customers remember.

Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman and CEO of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., pitches the format as a fix for a familiar chore.

"For decades, customers have had to visit multiple retailers, websites and service providers to complete a single home project," he said. "One company for bedding, another for storage, another for closets, another for installation. That model no longer works. We believe the future belongs to businesses that solve complete customer problems."

Services come next. As the rollout continues, customers will see Beyond Home Services grow to cover cabinetry, flooring and installation work.

The retailer wants a piece of the house itself. Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., whose portfolio includes Kirkland's, Overstock and BuyBuy Baby, has signed an agreement to acquire Fathom Holdings Inc., a real estate services platform that handles brokerage, mortgage, title and insurance through its intelliAgent cloud software. The transaction should close in the second half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

Executives call the whole plan Everything Home, built on three pillars: Homeownership & Transactions, Omnichannel Commerce and Home Services. One company would help you buy the house, then furnish it and repair it.

Amy Sullivan, president of Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc., says the co-branded stores mark a starting point rather than a trial run.

"This isn't a retail experiment. It's the beginning of a completely new model for home retail," she said. "The same organization expertise customers have always loved from The Container Store now sits alongside the breadth, value and inspiration of Bed Bath & Beyond."
