“I had these guys construct me a monstrosity of a cover for a large 130 year old antique cabinet. Jesse was the one who helped me, awesome customer service and he knew his stuff! He called me to give me an eta, then they called me on that day to tell me it was done! I picked up the piece today and the lady who took my payment was funny and friendly! The piece it fit perfectly over my cabinet! They did a great job on the dimensions. There was a little hiccup with some scratches, but the boss took care of me, very kindly and professionally. These guys really went the extra mile to make my custom piece. So it's all good in the hood and IThanks, Tap Plastics!”

“I love J&M. They have every fastener you could ever need, and they are incredibly helpful. They were a key partner during our build out of a tiny house on wheels -- something I had never done before. There were dozens of times when we had no clue what bolt or screw was needed for the stage we were at. But Justin and the crew always helped me find just the right thing -- even when I didn't know what it was called! They have a great inventory, and I love that they also carry premium drill bits and Diablo saw blades. If you need any sort of fastener, I'd go here before ever heading to a general hardware store. Below are some pictures of the tiny house on wheels that we built with 30 female high school students. J&M's fasteners were used in EVERY piece of the construction, and we're so thankful to have them as a partner.”

I went to start my generator around 8 am and it was not not running right at all, I took it to HK engine and they had it back to me repaired in 90 minutes to 2 hours top! They gave me priority because they knew the power was out at my house... Fantastic business!!!”

“Take a "make + take" class! Ray is just the most knowledgeable yet patient instructor, giving expert guidance, along with a few corny jokes, to help you make something you'll be proud of! I took the 2-part charcuterie board class and though I'm a novice with arthritic hands, I now have the most beautiful creation that all my friends are ooohing and ahhhing over. The class size is small so Ray was able to give each of us individual assistance. My classmates each had different skill levels and comfort zones with saws and power tools, and what's great about Ray's technique is he communicates clearly step by step so even the most beginning level student can keep up with the more advanced participants. Outstanding instructor, outstanding class, so much so that I've signed up for another to learn how to make a lazy susan for my kitchen table!”

“Telegraph hardware is small and packed to the rafters with stuff. I come here often due to ease of access, and it's always quick in quick out. The owners seem to be the only employees, and while they don't know much about hardware or repair topics they do know their stock. A quick ask will get you to the right place. The same owners run True Value Eastern near Berkeley Bowl. They let me bring my bike in for safety from theft, a good thing.”

“This place is a hidden gem! I urgently needed some kitchen supplies for a renovation mixup, and everywhere local was out of stock, or didn't have good options. I found a great sink I needed on their website, and realized they had some in stock at the San Leandro location. I called to find out if they were open to the public, and they are! Everyone from the operator, to the sales person, to the people at the front counter were all so friendly! Great options from lower to high end, and well worth the drive out there. Highly recommend.”

“My boyfriend and I stop by here at least a couple times a month because it's close to his place, we both like supporting local businesses, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. When it came time to upgrade his grill, my boyfriend wanted to patronize the Moraga Ace. He had spent a couple of weeks researching grills, and we went to several stores to look at their inventory. In the end, the grill we chose was not in stock at Moraga Ace, so the owner, Bill, worked with us directly to order the grill. He and his staff assembled and delivered the grill, then Bill gave us several tips on where to put the grill in the backyard and made sure that we were both comfortable connecting and disconnecting the propane tank, turning the propane on, and lighting the various burners. Then he gave us a few tips about how to grill different types of meats and veggies! He even threw in a complimentary long-handled grill brush. Later that weekend, we dropped in for some non-grill-related items and Bill made sure to greet us and ask how the new grill was working out for us. :)”
