“I can only offer an observer's opinion of this facility. I was there several weeks ago as one of several guest speakers from a local nonprofit organization. Another charitable group gathered there to introduce mothers and daughters to options for places they can volunteer over the next six years to fulfill their goals. While I waited for my turn to speak, I checked out the large main room, filled with bright, colorful art projects. Mostly paintings were featured, since they're easy to hang. Still, I could see that other types of art mediums are taught. My understanding is that this is a popular destination for kids' birthday parties, though I could see it as a gal pals' get-together spot, too. I hadn't heard of them before being given the address to come for the event. I was really impressed with finding such a fun, inspiring resource in the community for artists of all ages to release their creative juices.”

“James Storehouse is an amazing non- profit in Newbury Park, supporting foster children and their families. You can donate good quality clothes, toys, cribs, and so much more. A foster child aging out of the system can pick up a starter kit for kitchen and bedroom. Volunteer opportunities are available.”

“I recently attended the Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED taught by Michael Castro and was thoroughly impressed by his teaching style. Michael managed to strike the perfect balance between professionalism and approachability, and he was able to make the class engaging and easy to understand. His unique combination of humor and expertise put everyone at ease and created a comfortable learning environment. I left the class feeling confident in my CPR abilities, thanks to Michael’s excellent instruction!!”

“I brought 3 of the kittens I fostered/rescued in hard-sided pet carriers to this location to be fixed. I waited until they were at least 4 months old so they don't develop any health issues later.

When I picked them up after their surgeries, they were groggy and seemed to have forgotten they were siblings. They were hissing at each other for a few days until the medication from the surgery was out of their system.

I separated the 3 in individual crates and used paper pellets for them to potty on (so it wouldn't stick to their incision sites). As days passed, one of the three kittens healed fine. One of the female kittens had liquid forming at the incision area (pouch-like) and and the male kitten's private was inflamed, which was worrisome.

I was told the liquid formed because she was active and moving around a lot (she was in a bigger crate). The male kitten didn't have a cone on and I was told it was due to him licking the incision site. The vet instructed me to put a cone on him; the inflammation eventually went away. I'd say both kittens took about 1-2 months for their incision areas to heal.

Overall, I had a good experience at this place. The price was affordable and the staff were very busy, but they were courteous and answered all my questions.”

“Love coming here to pass the time and find gems. Prices are reasonable and the sales every week are amazing. Every time I donate I shop. It's a small space, but gives a genuine thrifting experience. Only reason why it's not five stars in my book is there's this one older woman at the cash register with a bad attitude/tone every time. Why be in the front if you don't want to be nice to people? Oh well. God bless :)”

“Wow, this place is amazing!

Our tour guide Hannah was super knowledgeable and friendly.

We learned about everything from egg pigmentation, bird color morphs, egg shape, nest parasitism, taxidermy, conservation tactics, bird houses, local birds, nest materials, and species disambiguation through to ancient birds, island ecology, and more.

We have been waiting for over half a decade to visit and it didn't disappoint!”

“Small and quaint art studio that has lots of wonderful members. Everyone is so warm and inviting. All the art here is locally made and shows talent from all around the area. Art classes here are fair in price and you learn lots of different things.”

“This place is quiet and not busy like it used to be. I waited about 20 minutes as a walk-in before I saw someone. They were helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable with my issue, and I got what I came for. Handicap parking, but a bit far from their office. Public restrooms available with key. They had a lot of information for the public in the form of pamphlets there too. It was a good experience!”

“I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible support and resources provided by Thousand Oaks Senior Concerns. As a caregiver for my aging parent, navigating the complexities of elder care was daunting, but Senior Concerns truly became a lifeline for me and my family.

First and foremost, the sense of community fostered by Senior Concerns was invaluable. Connecting with other caregivers who understood the challenges I faced brought immense comfort and encouragement. The workshops and support groups offered not only practical advice but also a space to share experiences and find solidarity in our journey.

The educational resources provided by Senior Concerns were comprehensive and empowering. From workshops on dementia care to legal and financial planning seminars, I felt equipped with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions for my loved one's well-being. The staff members were always approachable and willing to offer guidance, whether it was navigating Medicare options or finding local support services.

One of the standout features of Senior Concerns was their respite care services. Being able to take short breaks knowing that my loved one was in capable hands provided much-needed relief and allowed me to recharge, reducing caregiver burnout significantly.

Moreover, Senior Concerns not only focused on caregiver support but also prioritized the well-being of seniors themselves. The programs and activities offered were engaging and enriching, providing my loved one with opportunities for socialization, mental stimulation, and a sense of belonging within the community.

The entire staff was there for support, helped answer questions and concerns and provided empathy that you were not going at this alone.

In summary, Thousand Oaks Senior Concerns is more than just a resource center; it's a compassionate and comprehensive support network for caregivers and seniors alike. I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone navigating the challenges of aging and caregiving.

Thank you, Thousand Oaks Senior Concerns, for your unwavering support and dedication to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and their families.”
