“Cute bookstore in Oakland with gently used books for super cheap. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Well organized and a good selection of whatever genre you're looking for. Usually easy to park on the street nearby, too. By swanns market.”

“The service was unique and personable. I walked in on a late Sunday morning to find the owner and 2 friends chatting in the store. Shelves were stocked. Each section had and impressive variety of options. Found some intriguing books that I can't wait to crack open, they even have a UFO section! Value is unbeatable. I believe i got 7or 8 books for $30.00. They take card and cash.”

“Walked into this store during the weekend, found myself wanting a specific book they didn't have. The friendly person (David I think) running the shop seamlessly offered & ordered the book for me. Surely one could have ordered the same book online but what one would have missed is - as we placed the order we ended up talking about the genre, leading to David suggesting books that were rather hard to discover (one of them was in limited supply). Somehow, ordering a book online will never live up to the entirety of walking into a unique local bookstore. Great experience at the Book Tree, thank you.”

“Worth the trip. Curated and thoughtful selection of fine old and recent books. Science fiction and fantasy particularly good. After ice cream at Fenton's [same building!] browse and chat, and probably find a gem. I did find a gem: the Smithsonian gem catalog from decades ago, with the Hope Diamond on the cover!”

“This used books store is EVERYTHING! I hadn't gotten lost in the pleasure of a book store in a LONG time and this store captivated me. Made several purchases for myself as well as purchases for my classroom. Teachers...great deals on used, great quality children's books (many less than $5). Highly recommend spending some time wandering the shelves of this store.”

“Very intelligent, informed staff with great suggestions!! Great selection of books. Quick turn around time when ordering books that they don't have in stock. Totally reasonable prices. Can do business with them over the phone. I like keeping my money local instead of feeding the web.”

“Charming bookstore with outstanding selections in fiction, poetry, history, spiritual beliefs, children's selections. I was so happy to buy 1 item I was looking for (hard-to-find mystery in a series) and 2 unexpected treasures (1 new fiction, 1 memoir). A delight to browse and discover.”

“This is my favorite local bookstore. I've gone here to buy books for all kinds of special occasions over the years. I especially like that they have bilingual books for kids. Unfortunately, with them closing at 7:00 p.m. it's been tough for me to get here after work. Today I showed up a couple minutes before closing but they had already locked up. What a bummer. Wish they were open later.”

“The staff is very helpful. They have an amazing collection of children's books and the ww2 selection was great. I'm glad I got a book on General Patton and the battle of the bulge. The pricing was very reasonable and just an absolute delight seeing so many books in such packed shelves. Just an amazing experience. We must support more such indie bookstores. It's 70 mile drive for me but well worth the effort.”

“Be sure to order online and visit when the store isn’t busy, or you’ll be waiting a long time! Spring is Free 2023 so be sure to use that for your books, the credit is valid until the end of the semester so there is still time to sign up for accelerated classes online!”
