wanted to like this place, but I did not have the chance to have my car worked on. I am having transmission issues and decided to make an appointment at AAMCO. I speak on the phone with Ben, the owner. He tells me to bring my car on Tuesday first thing in the morning at 8 am. He also tells me the diagnosis fee is $180 but offers to give me a military discount, even though I am not in the military. I say, but I'm not in the military. He says, "I am the owner I can do that." The discount would bring it down to $130. I agree. He also asks me if I will need a shuttle home, and I was surprised by this question saying yes, because I've never been offered a ride home after leaving my car at a shop. My car is low, and I am aware it's hard for certain shops to work on it. I confirm with Ben on the phone that they will be able to lift my car up. He says, "Yes, it shouldn't be a problem.". I get there at 8 am on Tuesday. The first thing Ben does is confirm with one of his technicians if he will be able to lift it up. They both confirm it is okay. He tells me the time he thinks they will be able to look at it. He says, "2pm, but maybe we can do it around 12pm". I am bummed out at this point. After walking back into the office, I met Steve, who gave me paperwork to fill. While setting it up, he checks his calendar, where they have me down for Tuesday at 8 am for $130. Ben interrupts Steve, correcting him and saying $180. It's $180. I say, "You did say $130 on the phone." He explains it's because they need more time to be able to lift my car since it's so low. I agree to the price change because I need the work done. After filling out the papers, Ben disappeared to help someone else. I guess they forgot the shuttle he offered me. I am stranded now. So I order my own Uber. 3:30 rolls around. I call asking if there is an update on my car. I am put on hold for a couple of minutes, and Steve picks up the phone, who explained to me my car was not worked on because the lift they needed to use was being occupied by a van who had it's front end taken apart.. Okay, so does it not mean anything when someone makes an appointment?Why say things and not follow through with your words? You changed your prices on me, changed the time on me, and you weren't even able to come through. You wasted my day waiting on you guys. I had a feeling they wanted to keep the car overnight. Just wasted $30 on Uber for nothing.

The work they do is amazing. Ben the owner is cool to talk to for service. The person named Steve on the other hand, has probably the worst attitude. Yells at customer and got frustrated as heck answering any question i had no matter what time of day.
Always try to talk to Ben if youre planning to take your car here

I am very happy with the service I received! I had driven my car 5 miles with NO transmission fluid from a botched job at a different shop. These guys at AAMCO Oceanside figured out that there was no problem with my transmission after a free diagnostic test. I was worried they would try to up-sell me but they were super informative and honest!

Seems to be more for automatic transmissions and not so much manual ? but owner did try to crunch #s but still wasnt in our buget

While I didn’t end up doing a service due to time constraints/logistics, the owner was very knowledgeable and happy to work with me on pricing. He gave good advice for transmission care even after I declined the service. It’s rare to find people who genuinely want to do quality work on your car, and even rarer to find people who aren’t just out for a buck. I definitely will be servicing my car here next time!!

Brought my car in and they checked it out. Called me about the problem, they were fast and very reasonable in price. Honest people, i would recommend this shop to anyone. I didn’t feel like they were trying to get over on me as most places do being a single women. My car runs like a charm. Thanks to Ben the owner and Steve the manager.
