After reading numerous reviews of surf schools in the North County area, I decided to go with Oceanside Surf School for beginner lessons—and I’m so glad I did! Matthew and the entire team of instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely invested in helping you learn. They take the time to teach you the fundamentals while helping you to discover what works best for you. I highly recommend this place! If you’re looking for an amazing, personalized surf lesson, don’t hesitate to book with them!

We signed our girls up for surf lessons while visiting Oceanside. Matthew greeted us and helped our girls feel less nervous on their first day. The second day, my youngest got stung by a stingray and her instructor Jessie went above and beyond by getting her to the lifeguard station for care. He stayed with us the whole us the whole time and followed up the next day. We highly recommend these guys- they were awesome!

I could not have asked for a better first surf lesson experience! Dee (hopefully spelled that right) greeted me at their tent and was SUPER friendly and welcoming, gave me some tips and stretching exercises. Jesse was my instructor. EXTREMELY knowledgable and encouraging. Gave insightful feedback. Gave appropriate breaks. I was able to get up a good number of times and it was definitely due to his great instruction. Cued me in on pro’s and cons of each of the waves. Provided me equipment tips and lesson tips for the future. Truly 10/10 experience. I appreciate the military discount too.

Took a week long trip down to Southern California with my only goal being to learn how to surf, took three different classes with different company’s, schools, and instructors with this one being by a MILE AND A HALF the BEST one out of all of them!! Instructor was patient, kind, understanding and super encouraging with very helpful feedback after every wave. After only an hour long lesson I went from not being able to catch any waves to catching them on my own and riding them out fully back to shore. Now if I’m unable to catch a wave I know what I did wrong. If you want to learn how to surf or just a great rental spot this is the place to do it, I will be coming back next year, couldn’t sing their praises enough! 10/10

The instructors are very friendly! Siddy and Alia were amazing and made my kids learn surfing in a very easy and fun way. Overall very nice surfing school and I definitely recommend it🌟

This was a blast! The instructors Waxi, and Ali, were so great. My 10 year old son hasn’t stopped talking about the great time he had. By far one of the highlights of our time here at Oceanside. Thank you for such a great surf experience.
