I brought my car to West Automotive Group for what I thought was a bad alternator. They diagnosed it as a bad battery, replaced it, and sent me on my way. A few days later, my car still had issues, so I returned, and they finally confirmed it was the alternator all along. During this process, they broke my key fob and blamed me for bringing it in broken—which wasn’t true.
They also tried to upsell unnecessary services, recommending a transmission fluid change that had already been done 7,000 miles prior. I had it double checked with the guys at Valvoline after I was told this, and they found no issues. West Automotive Group also suggested replacing brake pads at 5mm (front) and 8mm (back)—hardly urgent.
This shop seems more interested in adding unnecessary costs than providing reliable service, and they didn’t respect my property. I won’t be back.

Brought my car here couple months ago and today got an email from carfax saying that the report was posted, I looked at it and then I saw the records from this shop saying that my car has 180,000 miles on it when it only has 106,500, Its been hard trying to solve this issue

So we have been using these guys for years back when they were West coast transmissions. And we were happy. Brought all our fleet trucks there, and never even questioned their assessment. They now have been bought out by West Automotive. And Paul is, I guess their service writer. He was speaking with my office mgr who is not mechanically inclined. I called in 2 times asking for a call back from paul, and didnt receive one. I finally got ahold of him, after the damage was done. We brought a truck in with the stated issue of not upshifting at highway speeds. Instead they decided they needed to do a compression test. Cost 958.00 and they didn't test the transmission at all. I think they are the only mechanic that cannot perform a compression test for less than 300.00, and only when asked to do so. Anyone know a reliable transmission shop?
Rebuttal: in photo.
Bottom line their system is designed to charge additional Revenue so they have more leverage in convincing you to use their shop for their additional repairs. There are other shops most of them will diagnose it faster so they don't need Leslie waste your time and money. Spending $1,000 over the course of two days without a service vehicle to be told you need a new engine is ridiculous and other shops will do it for much less money and much less time

The folks at West Auto Group did an excellent job servicing my 2008Toyota Tacoma truck.
The services were explained clearly, and further necessary work was also explained and sent to my email. Dalton gave me a printed copy of the estimate. I very much appreciated Sebastian's shuttle service that took me home and picked me up during the service. Johnny gave me a printed copy of the work order and closed out the service. A special thank you to the mechanics too! All the folks were very professional, kind and courteous.
Also, the cost of the service was reasonable and fair. The AAA discount helped.
Overall, great experience. Highly recommended. I look forward to having my vehicle serviced by West Automotive Group.

I bought new tires at Discount Tires but was told I needed an alignment by dealer plus I felt like it was probably best for the tires. I wish I'd returned to the dealer for the alignment. Dropped off the car at 10a. Got driven home cause it was going to be a while. Better than 4h later, "our machine is busted, we need to take it to Kearney Mesa". Nearly 6h, plus a quarter tank of gas and all I got was sorry. Time is money and gas isn't cheap. Should have been offered a discount or topped off my gas. I won't be going back or recommend them.
I dropped them down because of their lies. They didn't call until 230. You've had my car for 4 hours, I want it done. Today is the 1st day I've driven more than a couple miles and it pulls left. I'm going to have to take it to the dealer like I should have done to start with.

West Oceanside Automotive & Transmission is a gem in Oceanside, CA. When my Mini Cooper's check engine light came on, I called them for help. Johnny, one of their team members, immediately impressed me with his customer-first approach.
Instead of pushing for an immediate service appointment, Johnny offered a potential DIY solution - replacing the gas cap. This advice could have saved me the diagnostic fee, showing their commitment to helping customers, not just making a quick buck.
When I did need to bring my car in, their communication was top-notch. They kept me informed throughout the process, clearly explaining the issue and seeking my permission before proceeding with repairs. This level of transparency is refreshing in the automotive industry.
I picked up my car today, and it's running like new. The entire experience, from the initial phone call to driving away with my repaired Mini, was smooth and professional.
Johnny and his team at West Oceanside Automotive & Transmission have definitely earned my trust and future business. If you're in the Oceanside area and need reliable, honest auto service, give them a try.

Was charged $155 for a supposedly initial diagnosis, which led to more questions than answers. Then I was swindled for another $433.00 into removing the transmission drain pan, to let me know there’s debris in my transmission oil. YOU NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION! At that point
I towed my vehicle to the dealership. They found out it was a torque sensor that was affecting the shifting of the transmission. $600 dollars they took from me with no right answer- only to fallow up with $ thousands for a new transmission! Beware of this place!!! I’m a military veteran who got taken advantage of! There will always be scammers, beware!
Return my money back is the best thing you can do!

If you want the job done right rest assured that they'll get it done correctly. The service is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for...remarkable service and a great job. No quick fixes or half work. I most likely wont be going back and that's a good thing 😉.
