Altair-4 Collectibles is a hidden gem with an amazing collection of Sci-Fi and fantasy books and memorabilia. The selection is simply second to none, filled with good old stuff like books, magazines, comics, and small collectibles. Customers often stumble across rare or obscure genre books they haven't read. The business owner is an informative nice guy, a fan of the genre who can discuss any book or author. He is retired and not in it for the money but for the love of old stuff, offering very reasonable prices. The shop has great business hours and a cozy vibe. It is worth the trip to see for yourself, as you can find misc. collectibles and gifts. The experience is frequently awesome or even epic, with the owner known to go out of his way to provide great service. The store is connected to a bar with happy hour, a cafe, and an actual restaurant, where you can read your books. It can be a little overwhelming but the vibe is great, making it a place where you can lose and find yourself. It is a 5-star store that comes highly recommended.

Nice specialized bookstore in North OC focused on military history, scifi, and fantasy. Owner has encyclopedic knowledge of genre writers and screenwriters, having met a lot of them. Right next to Anne's Book Carnival, visit both!

This bookstore's selection is almost entirely focused on military history and science fiction. I didn't spend much time perusing through military history, admittedly, but I loved the science fiction collection.
