“I only discovered the superb matting and framing capabilities of the proprietor, Joanna, last year. Since then I've returned often to reframe wall-art overdue for upgrades or to choose optimal framing for an eclectic assortment of newly acquired pieces. The gallery is a delight to wander through. Joanna personally selects each greeting card, assuring an extensive display of artful, intelligent, fun, and unforgettable gems at reasonable prices. Unique items of coral, shell, and other ocean-based origins have a special appeal for home or office decor. If anyone can mount or frame fragile, bio-based items or prepare them for safe transport and longterm preservation, that would be Joanna. her gallery features fine art and also crafted items from local talent, while drawing from distant sources as well. You may hear a story about how sea-fans from a storm-ravaged cove in Haiti came to her Studio-Gallery or how she first realized her calling within the art world. Plan to visit sooner rather than later. Redevelopment of the Fisherman's Wharf buildings, cobbled plaza, and waterfront is pending. The future will not include existing vendors--unless the wharf developer and certain Ventura Harbor decisionmakers find ways to include the non-profits and family businesses that currently occupy the historic Fisherman's Wharf.”

“My mom and I had such a great experience at The Painted Cabernet last night. I had been a long time ago but it was my moms first time - she loved it! The instructor was very sweet and easy to follow throughout the process. My mom and I are the type of people who want to follow things step by step. We felt the pace was really nice and the instructor was informative/helpful but they also encourage those with a more creative outlet to do their own thing. I loved that the instructor kept reminding us not to stress and have fun with it. My mom and I can be perfectionist at times so it was a good reminder to just trust the process and have a good time. The class was about 2 1/2 hours long. Beer and wine is not included with your seat ticket but they do have it for purchase for a reasonable price. This is the perfect experience for couples, groups, or a mom/daughter evening like we had. Thanks for a great experience Painted Cabernet!”

“Small shop just packed with imported goods. Very colorful and lots of interesting decor and accessories. I was looking for un alebrije de rana, which they didn't happen to have, but the woman in charge gave me some suggestions of other stores in the area I might try. Cute store to browse for small gifts.”

“May or may not have spent too much time in this cute little gift shop for holiday shopping #shopsmallSituated at what I fondly call "the secret alley" in Main St, by Palm and Boy and SkinMagician. Stumbled upon this shop after getting a facial. Love that each article is thoughtfully picked and curated by the owner. Loooove the Eggback Home pieces - ceramic ware, handmade from Portugal. Bought a set of espresso set and a medium bubble mug. Prices are so reasonable, the mugs that I purchased are $20 at another website/store. :) Also eyeing a match cloche (Skeem) for next visit. Certainly the perfect shop for the home person in your life, or yourself! They also have ton of unique tea ware and plant parent gifts!Staff is always so nice and patient and I appreciate that they don't hover while window shopping. Definitely my go to spot for a unique gift!”

“In my adventures in Ventura I ran into this place while walking around Portside. All I can say is WOW! The gallery has a variety of art work and designs by the owner and other artists. I bought a few paintings at a fairly decent price. The owner is pretty amazing and talented. She has been working on her craft for many years and this studio is definitely a culmination of her heart and spirit. I wish I had more time here but she mentioned the gallery has a website to purchase any additional paintings. I reserved this amazing Dia De Los Muertos painting that is spectacular. Next time I'm in town I'll sure to come back and visit for her Paint and Sips and maybe some Bingo nights!”

“H Gallery + Studios is one of my favorite galleries in the area. I really appreciate the progressiveness and their collections that they showcase. I wish that they had more places like these around Ventura. I really appreciate what Rodrigo and his team are doing to bring in quality artists. I hope they stick around for a very long time! Keep up the great work you guys!”

“A must stop for any art lover. So much cool ceramics by talented locals. Many have been at the craft for decades but there’s usually fresh stuff for a younger audience.”

“This art center is a treasure for Ventura County. I've seen an impressive show of this area's glass artists, as well as some excellent group shows. Their ceramics and other arts courses for adults and children are impressive. So grateful that they lived through the pandemic waves!”

“Nice! A new contemporary art gallery in Westlake! Marion Wood (affiliated with Studio Channel Islands in old towne Camarillo and TAG Gallery in Bergamot Station in Santa Monica) is a multi-faceted artist who is currently focussing on largish image scapes. The colors are vivid, the black on whites are beautifully understated, and some of the paintings use familiar items, such as coffee beans, for added texture. Interesting and inviting! Give her a look.”

“Actually, the wind chimes, hanging art, and other pretty things in the doorway were what caught my eye and enticed me to go into the gallery and look around. After I left, I had some lunch nearby and couldn't stop thinking about the things I wanted to go back and buy. I went back and bought the wind chimes. Really big capiz shells! Super beautiful blue! And, I bought the prettiest mermaid I've ever seen! Vey cute shop and the sales lady was delightful!”

“We came here as part of our escape the summer heat outing in Ventura. Although it was free, it was not crowded which I like on a Saturday afternoon. This place is not too big but packs in a lot of history of Ventura. There is also an interactive Children's area where we got to squeeze in a jam session of drums, guitar, harp, bongos and cymbals. Maybe it was a good thing no one was around to hear our inharmonious sounds! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. Free parking in the neighboring lots and close by to walk to. Has a really small gift shop.”
