Asilomar Hotel and Conference Grounds is a serene retreat ideal for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment. Located near the Pacific Ocean, the large campus is surrounded by nature paths and wildlife, with deer and bunnies often seen wandering about. The historic buildings, designed by architect Julia Morgan, offer a cozy atmosphere, making it a great choice for families, couples, and friends. Guests appreciate the friendly and courteous staff, with many noting exceptional customer service and delicious food in the dining hall. The accommodations, while rustic and sometimes in need of maintenance, provide comfortable settings, including spacious options for families. Visitors can easily explore nearby attractions like the Monterey Bay Aquarium and enjoy scenic drives along the 17-mile drive. Although some rooms might feel old and noisy, many guests have found their stays enjoyable, contributing to a sense of peace and well-being. Overall, Asilomar is a fantastic place to unwind and reconnect with nature.
I will say this hotel is not for everyone... if you are expecting luxury or room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to be at a peaceful location and stroll beautiful grounds and literally walk to the beach across the street, this is your place. I loved hearing the waves crashing.

Third time visiting this state park and my family was not disappointed.

Asilomar is getting so run down, sadly. I wish some care was put in to its maintenance.
