“Very quaint bed and breakfast. The staff is very kind and welcoming. Breakfast is a plus and it is very walkable to local restaurants. The garden is lovely with a firepit available at night. We will be back!”

“Cozy, lovely place. I enjoyed my stay there a lot. Well curated design/materials in the rooms and public area, I liked the attention to detail. Furniture and rooms are in very good condition, beds are comfortable. The building is quite old and you hear a lot what is going on but I did not feel bothered.Povides a good complimentary breakfast with various options. Some may find it limited but very good quality and selection for the size of the venue (I think 22 rooms). Personnel was friendly and caring. Cheese and whine are also complimentary in the afternoon (4pm-6pm) with cake/cookies as sweet options. I do not drink alcohol therefore I cannot assess what was presented but the food selection was delicious.Free parking was available from 6pm-9am directly at the venue. It is located in downtown Pacific Grove, a lot of dining options or shops are conveniently located nearby. Still very quiet area, though. I was there during the weekend and there was music playing from the nearby restaurants in the evening which may be bothersome to some (was reduced late evening) - I didn't mind it that much. Nearby (approx 5-10min walk) is a coastal walkway where you can spot otters eating/cracking clams and seals swimming directly along the beautiful coast. I enjoyed my time at the Monterey Peninsula a lot and this place had it's fair share :)”

“Super cute cozy hotel nestled in PG. The outside reminded me of a Hallmark channel. We went in Dec, so the lights were on, crisp air, excellent location to the beach. The rooms were much smaller than seemed in pictures. Very clean, No drawers for clothes, but thankfully it was a quick overnight trip. The man at the front was very nice & friendly.”

“So beautiful and quaint! Emily the front desk lady checked me in quickly and made sure the room was ready. It was pet friendly and right next to the butterfly sanctuary. The bed and pillows were the perfect amount of soft and firm. I felt safe and would love to come back next time I'm back in town.”

“Borg's is a very basic Motel. But, the rooms are clean, the service is great, & the location can't be beat! We stay here when we are in the area & always have a great stay.”

“We had a relaxing extended weekend here, during the off-season, which was wonderful. Very quiet since it was not summer (our preference). Breakfast was great (Richard, one of the chefs, kindly accommodated an allergy for our party). Location is right in front of coastal bike/walk path, which was amazing to enjoy as there is no gym on-site. Our party had one couple in the carriage house and another in the main house. We would recommend the main house (Jennifer Room) over the back house (Carriage House), though there are pros/cons for each of the spaces. Bikes available for residents, which is a nice touch. Enjoyed the living space which faces the ocean — great views all around. Would stay here again, in the main house.Rooms: Our party had one couple in the carriage house and another in the main house. We would recommend the main house (Jennifer Room) over the back house (Carriage House), though there are pros/cons for each of the spaces. Beds are softer in main house. Environment is quieter in back house.Noteworthy details: I would not bring children here.”

“Had a lovely stay at this hotel last weekend! We came for a two day Indian wedding ceremony (happening at hotels with $400-$600 a night rooms) so we were looking for something simple and affordable. Deer Haven was just that and perfect for our needs. When I checked us in on Friday the receptionist was very nice, same age as me and we talked about weddings and what to wear (noticed my henna!). Our room was 110, lower level corner. Never heard people above us. Never heard people to our left. Straight up, this was such a quiet and peaceful hotel, it felt like we were there by ourselves (which is wild because it's definitely a busy time of year for travel)!!! The beds were comfy. We didn't use the fireplace. TV was old school (no apps) so it was fun to watch Comedy Central and other channels we used to like when cable was king. And lastly, we saw deer! LOTS of deer, especially in the mornings!!!If you're looking for a nice affordable place to lay your head down while you explore pebble beach and Monterey, you should book this place.Edit: adding more detail! It IS close to the beach! Our friend spent both of her mornings walking to the beach and back. Is the beach directly across the street? No, but that's ok. Use your legs and explore! The trails are very close, and she loved walking around in the mornings. The hotel itself is in a bit of a residential patch, but I grew up in Half Moon Bay so this place felt like I was walking around home. I knew that it wouldn't be "central" like you walk out the door and 5 restaurants are there, but hotels like that were double or more in price. This was a great deal and close enough to all the things!”

“Lovely motel in a great location. Rooms are clean but could use some updating. You can tell renovations have been done but not to high quality. Otherwise it was a wonderful place to stay. Safe and quiet. My only complaint was they have a fireplace in the room and they supply a packaged log that you can burn. Our neighbors did just that and some of the odor wafted down into our room.”

“The hotel looked absolutely beautiful, and the representatives that I talked to on the phone were courteous and helpful. When plans changed, they easily allow us to cancel our reservation and rebook with no hassle. Greatly appreciated!”

“My husband and I stayed here briefly for a one night stay. It's a really cute motel with the basics. The exterior is very quaint and inviting. We stayed in one of the rooms at the front of the property. The rooms are bit outdated.I noticed some paint chipping in the dresser drawer and the toilet seat in our room. It had all we needed, which was basically just to lay our heads down and get some rest. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure good for a relaxing night. The refrigerator in the room was noisy though, but it was an easy fix. We just unplugged it and replugged back in the morning. The walls are thin though, so that may deter patrons from staying here. We heard our neighbors slamming their door and showering. The cottages seem more private. I would definitely stay here again! No frills, quaint, basic motel close to many amenities in Pacific Grove. Highly recommend.”

“We love this BW when we go to Monterey. It’s in Pacific Grove. It is a smaller BW. Rooms are bigger, quieter, very clean and a decent breakfast. Our go to when we visit.”

“The suite was huge with two rooms and included a fireplace and jacuzzi. However, aside from the bathroom vanity, a lot was run down with peeling wallpaper, stains in the bathtub, broken screens on the windows, and a broken towel rack. It's nice, but definitely in need of some repair.”

“Huge property within walking distance of the beach with walking trails. Rooms are very minimal and older. Granted you're not staying here to hang out in your room. Fire place is nice for winter nights.Rooms: Very minimal. Windows, bathroom, interior doors could use updating just for livability.”

“This place was renovated during the Covid period. What an amazing peaceful place to stay. The location is nice. You can hear the ocean from our room. The check in service was friendly. The room is clean, spacious, had a desk for work, a beautiful fireplace, a nice bathroom and shower, and even has an awesome little balcony. The breakfast isn't very eventful but, they do offer a nice personal, cooked to order, option for $15.00. They have coffee but no hot tea.The pool and spa look warm and cozy. We will definitely be trying those out tonight. We recommend staying here. We will definitely be returning.”

“Our room was updated from previous reviewers, the lady up front is very sweet. It wasn't noisy at all. The breakfast only included waffles, juices, yogurts. coffee, breads, no proteins which I wish they had but it did the job. I will come back if I am headed up here. Beautiful scenery outside”

“Great location and helpful, friendly front desk staff. Cannot beat the location and price for the area. Rooms are small but clean and well equipped. Microwave and small fridge. Comfortable bed with decent linens. They have FREE parking available but try to arrive a little before check in time, 4p to ensure a spot. Fast Wi-Fi too.Nearby activities: Easy walking distance 10 mins, to downtown Pacific Grove where there are many restaurants and shopping. Area feels super safe to walk after dark.”
