“We had an excellent 20+ person family reunion at the Butterfly Grove Inn. Each room was reasonably priced for the area, and very spacious and well equipped. There are large vaulted ceilings which gave the place a luxury lodge vibe. Great pool and common areas — highly recommend!”
“My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and regretted that we couldn’t stay here for longer!! The inn is super charming, clean and very well maintained. Every room is unique and that just adds more character to the property. The coast is a 3 minute walk away with brilliant views. But what made the experience even more special, was our interactions with Angela. They serve warm breakfast every morning, take time to talk to everyone and give them unique recommendations for things to do in the area. It was such a pleasure to stay here and we can absolutely not wait to visit again! It felt like home away from home. Would highly recommend it!”

“Costal, quaint cottage vibe that we totally enjoyed!! Hot tub was fantastic, limited breakfast but it does the job. 6 min walk to the beach and access to state park resort (Asilomar) grounds. We had a large family suite with a fireplace. Laundry room on site that takes quarters, very reasonable. Deer roaming, lots of plants and you can hear the ocean!! We would stay again!”

“I give this place a 5 star. If I had to say 1 negative it would be that the room is is hot unless you have the windows open. However, when you do have the windows open you here every car outside is quite noisy in the morning. You can't beat the view if you have an ocean view room which is right across the street.”
“Rooms clean and fireplace in room . Check in fast, easy and kind. Even gave us keys before room finished. Dog friendly. Never heard dogs barking though. Location is outstanding. Walked to great room at Asilomar for to go breakfast, coffee or quick lunch. Easy bike (or drive)to Aquarium and Wharf.”
“Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Clean room. We enjoyed our visit to the Monarch Resort. The room had a fireplace and partial ocean view. There is a pool and jacuzzi. Continental breakfast from 7:30 to 10 am. A very peaceful and over all great place to stay.”

“I had a wonderful 2 night stay! After a little glitch on my part, a very nice and patient lady on the phone helped me, then all went well. I requested an upper floor, which I was given, and good thing I pack light..it was on the 3rd floor and no elevator...so be aware of this. The room was comfy as was the bed. This Inn has the old world charm with modern amenities. It is walking distance to many shops and eateries, I also walked down to Cannery Row...very pretty and pleasant walk along the shore, just a little more than 1 mile. I will definitely make a return trip and stay!!”
“The check in was simple & the staff was really nice & helpful. I’m really picky about cleanliness & the room was pretty clean(it even smelled like disinfectant/clean). Decent Rooms, nothing luxurious. I would stay here again.”

“I will say this hotel is not for everyone... if you are expecting luxury or room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to be at a peaceful location and stroll beautiful grounds and literally walk to the beach across the street, this is your place. I loved hearing the waves crashing.”

“Great cozy hotel to reserve in Pacific Grove nearby Monterey. Staff is friendly, small breakfast in the lobby was limited but had great variety for on the go! Room was clean. Only thing I’d change would be get a BIGGER aquarium in the lobby or don’t have one at all… seemed too crowded and fish were aimlessly swimming.”

“Most affordable Pacific Grove and Monterey hotels/motels are going to be dated and more expensive than one would like to pay, but, you're paying for the location, which, in the case of this motel, is great. My ground-level floor was decently-sized, had a remodeled bathroom, appeared to be clean, and was quiet outside until about 7:00 a.m. The continental breakfast isn't spectacular and the beds were definitely doubles and not queens. Just have realistic expectations, focus on the beach, and you'll be fine with this place.”

“We had a great 3 night stay at the Sunset Inn. The entire staff was extremely helpful and kind during our stay. We appreciated the bike rentals onsite that allowed us to explore the area and spend less time finding a bike rental shop.
Breakfast was good but the space is a bit tight with the other guests getting their food and coffee in the morning.”
