The Pacific Grove Inn is a charming Victorian-style hotel on the national register of historic places, located in a very safe neighborhood close to everything in Pacific Grove. Its key advantage is its excellent location, offering great walkability to downtown shops, restaurants, a nice coffee shop, a bar with live music, and the beach, with the police station directly across the street. Guest experiences are mixed, leaning positive. Many loved their stay, finding the rooms clean, cozy, spacious, and cute with comfortable beds, good wifi, and a super quiet atmosphere. The self check-in process and lack of required staff interaction were appreciated. Some rooms feature balconies with ocean views and gas fireplaces. However, the Inn operates largely as a self-service place with virtually no on-site staff, which can lead to issues like difficulty obtaining toilet paper. The building's interior and bathrooms, worked into small spaces, receive criticism for feeling like a cheap hotel, with noted drawbacks like awful water pressure, glued-on cosmetic decorations, and very firm beds. Parking on site is available but tight. While some guests report great service and hassle-free booking changes, others cite significant problems, particularly disruptive renovation work during stays and inadequate customer service responses. Most agree the pros of the location and charm outweigh the cons, with many planning to return, though some have mixed feelings due to the drawbacks.

PG is beautiful and this is well-located. The room was comfortable, but adjacency to street (and police station) was a little noisy. The auto-check-in procedure was smooth and easy.

I love staying here. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. The rooms are cozy. The owner is a gem and very involved with the pristine maintenance here.
