“Hidden Gem That Feels Like a Tropical Wellness Retreat

Dinah’s Garden Hotel is a true hidden gem in Palo Alto — it feels more like a tropical vacation or a boutique wellness resort than a traditional hotel. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by lush gardens, blooming flowers, and a peaceful lagoon filled with Koi and ducks. The design is elegant and unique, with original art, global antiques, and statuary that give the entire property a serene, curated feel.

The rooms are spotless, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable — the beds and linens are top-notch, and the Italian blood orange bath amenities are a delightful touch. The pool is inviting and relaxing, and the poolside restaurant is a fantastic place to enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch, happy hour, or dinner.

What truly sets Dinah’s apart is the attention to detail and service. Housekeeping is meticulous, and the staff are warm, welcoming, and impressively responsive. Perks like free EV charging (including multiple Tesla chargers), ample parking, and complimentary laundry facilities — complete with detergent — make your stay even more convenient.

Tip: Ask at the front desk for food containers to feed the ducks and Koi — it’s a charming experience you won’t want to miss.

Whether you’re here for business or a relaxing getaway, Dinah’s offers something truly special. I can’t wait to return.”

“Great deal on a budget!! I enjoyed my stay at the Palo Alto Inn and would stay here again. It is in an ideal location, and the rooms felt very clean- especially the bed. I like that they provided plenty of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner along with other toiletries. The microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker were great touches as well.

The staff were very friendly and made for a great stay. If I were to stay here again, I would request a second level room because I am sensitive to noise but that is applicable to any hotel.”

“Excellent stay for family of 5. Extremely comfortable, spacious suite, friendly staff, good location and great breakfast! Free parking (though it can fill up) but always a spot available and quiet. Cannot recommend enough.”

“Great value if you don't mind a bit of road noise (which I don't) and not having your towels changed every single day (which always felt wasteful to me anyway).”

“Recently visited and dined at the restaurant.

Frannie was a delight! We really appreciated her thoughtfulness and consideration. We had a member of our party with a cane, and she did a great job ensuring his comfort and safety consistently throughout the visit.

We got some drinks at the bar - PERFECTION! The margarita especially was highly rated in my party. This was an unexpected delight - the house margarita!

What can I say about the food - it was incredible and much anticipated. We got the omakase, plus I asked for the miso cod because I've had that in other places and learned that Nobu claims this particular style's origin. The whole experience was Michelin-quality excellence all around.

The service was EXCELLENT! Our wait staff were quietly attentive but not intrusive. They informed intelligently and succinctly.

I highly recommend Nobu's clean elegant room appointments.

I do need to give props to whomever maintains the restrooms on the first floor where the restaurant is. Usually even in fine dining establishments towards the end of the evening, the ladies rooms are not the highest priority. When I used the facilities, they were IMMACULATE - I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. This is always much appreciated.

That tea/zen garden in back is amazing. It's a welcome calming influence in an otherwise high stress part of town.

We did not see any celebrities or local billionaires this time. I suppose we need to go to Nobu Malibu or New York for that. Even then I expect Nobu would keep them away from our plebeian prying eyes.”

“I spent more than 3 weeks in this hotel. I love the king bed studio, room is big and bright with 3 windows. More convenient for my family was the kitchen, we cooked every day. Hotel offers free breakfast, Mon to Thursday happy hours and free bottle water. Weak points: WiFi signal not strong enough sometimes, and the charger only two lamps with USB ports.”

“When you look at a child with a disability, please do not look away too quickly. Behind those quiet eyes is a world full of courage, pain, and hope. Divyang children are not weak—they are warriors who fight silent battles every single day. Simple things that we take for granted, like walking, speaking, or holding a pencil, can be lifelong challenges for them.

Many of these children are born into families that love them deeply but struggle to afford medical care, therapy, education, or even basic mobility aids. Their parents often sacrifice everything, yet still feel helpless when they cannot give their child a better future. These children do not ask for sympathy—they ask for understanding, dignity, and a chance to live with confidence.

A small act of kindness can change an entire life. Your voluntary donation can help provide therapy, education support, medical assistance, and emotional care to a child who deserves the same happiness as any other. When you help a Divyang child, you are not just giving money—you are giving hope, independence, and a reason to smile.

We believe in complete transparency and respect. There is no pressure, no expectation, and no obligation. If your heart feels moved and you wish to support this cause, a QR code is available on the profile display picture for those who want to contribute willingly.

Please remember: real humanity is not measured by words or ratings, but by compassion and action. Even one small contribution can help a child stand a little taller, dream a little bigger, and believe that the world has not forgotten them.

See these children not with your eyes alone, but with your heart. When you help a Divyang child, kindness finds its way back to you—in ways money never can.”

“I stayed at this hotel with my kids for their game and had a wonderful time! The room was beautiful with scenic views from every window, and it had an old- hotel style charm that I loved. The staff were very nice and helpful, especially the morning front desk person.
The breakfast spread was amazing! Loved the fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, coffee, oats, cereals, and milk - it was a great start to our day!
Overall, I strongly recommend this hotel! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I'd definitely stay here again.”

“? We loved this hotel! We stayed for 5 nights. The room was beautiful and clean, with lovely details that made our stay unique. The staff was very friendly; personally, JOSE MANCIA cooked me the best fried eggs. JENNY, DIEGO, ROBERT, and ADRIANA ARIAS kept my room clean. Every service area had very friendly staff. The entire team made our vacation a success. Thank you for helping us! We will be back very soon! ?”

“Cannot say enough good things about this place! The motel itself is really cute and well cared for and the staff is incredible. We were a super late check in due to my spouses surgery at Stanford and the night employee was kind and helpful and accommodating. Will stay here from here on out for every trip to this place!”

“The meticulously preserved yet comfortable Cardinal Hotel was the unexpected highlight of our visit to Palo Alto. It's 101 years old but in amazingly perfect condition. The lobby is a living museum - original wrought iron light fixtures, faux wood ceramic fireplace and tiled floor. The 1924 switchboard might be the only artifact that's not still in use.

The preservation comes at little cost in comfort and function. The vintage elevator appears daunting, with an old-fashioned door you slide open by hand. But once it starts moving, the unexpectedly smooth, quiet ride evinces a modern mechanism. Our bathroom had touches lacking in most modern hotel rooms. The shower/tub had a normal faucet - not one of those single control horrors - and an excellent non-skid surface.

The one concession to history is the lack of air conditioning. The ceiling fan and cross ventilation in our deluxe corner room was enough for us. Had it been hotter, we would have avoided the top floor. Some rooms lack an en-suite bathroom, but that only adds to the vintage atmosphere as long as you don't choose one of them.

Our room included breakfast at the adjoining French bistro. Hot chocolate and excellent coffee are also available in the lobby. The desk staff was unfailingly pleasant and helpful.”

“I proudly give this establishment the highest rating! I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so for this place — and with pride — after staying here for 16 consecutive days. It’s truly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in!

First of all, it’s extremely well located — in a quiet and safe area — with a bus stop right in front of the hotel that takes you directly to Palo Alto’s central station in just a few minutes. Besides that, it offers excellent value for money.

The room is spacious and comfortable, with a microwave, mini-fridge, air conditioning, balcony, a huge TV, and a large, cozy bed. The bathroom is also great.

The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful. From the moment I arrived, they offered me complimentary bottled water, utensils, plates, and cups. They even took me to the laundry room and paid for washing and drying my clothes at no cost.

I had a minor issue with the lock and shower, and both were fixed the same day in the best possible way.

The cleanliness is impeccable, and every staff member is genuinely polite and caring.

I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone — it’s truly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at!”

“The location is very convenient, we were able to walk around to several nearby places and we were close to Stanford as well which was great! The rooms are small but very clean and great amenities! The have several complimentary items including bikes, hot tub and pool nearby!”

“I have stayed here 15-20 times. We just spent 3 days there. It's not bad. The staff has been great. Just be sure to stay away from rooms that are close (on the same side) to the elevators. We were two rooms away, in the Beatles room, and could hear the elevator motors every time that the elevators were used, which sucks in the middle of the night. I mentioned this issue to the desk person when I checked out. I was told that the hotel is going to be extensively remodeled, starting in two months. However, it will become a "boutique" and Kimpton has bought the place. So, maybe the hotel will be quieter, but at double the price. If the future price is Kimpton-consistent, I will stay elsewhere despite the improvements.”
