“The woman I talked to briefly at the register was very sweet. I talked to her about cribbage and how my dad and I used to play the game. She said she would have someone teach her. I think her name was Lindy (sorry if I got it wrong). She brought out some extra t-shirts for my friend to look at. My friend ended up purchasing a rose colored one. It was a very pretty shade. There were some adult humor shirts too! I will keep it PG and not share what some of the shirts said. But they cracked me up! Very funny! They had a lot of cute items at the gift shop. I'm glad we stopped in. I wish I would have brought my purse. I would have purchased a few items myself. For example, the Pinecrest t-shirt made from license plates. Super cute! The shirts were not too expensive, I think she paid around $22.00 for a plus sized shirt. Not bad, in my opinion. Distance wise, it is a short walk from the lake, and close to the art museum. If you take the trail it is a little longer than cutting across the parking lot. We followed the trail on the way in. Then, we were in a hurry to get back, so we chose to cut across! If I am in the area again, I would stop by the gift shop!”

“Recently tried Dodge Ridge instead of going to Tahoe and overall felt it was a good value. The one-day tickets were among the lowest cost in the Sierras, snow quality and grooming was very good, and the facilities felt clean and not overly crowded compared to many of larger resorts. The mountain is small but still has enough to fill a day without feeling repetitive. The major downsides we experienced were a very slow rental shop and slow lifts. You can mitigate the first by bringing your own equipment or renting elsewhere. The second is unavoidable, but given Dodge's comparatively lower costs, seems a reasonable tradeoff. Food and drink were a mixed bag (good soup, small but well-stocked bar, definitely skip the pizza). One other note, if you're coming from the Central Valley or Bay Area, this location is slightly closer and seems less susceptible to the traffic that plagues the trip to the Tahoe area. But the road up is not in great condition so plan accordingly if the weather looks at all questionable.”
