After living for more than 2 years in the Valley I wonder why it took me so long to get the observatory tour. It was simply fascinating.Truly an immersive experience inside the dome.Highly recommended if you’re into astronomy or a science geek.Tours are available on Tue, Wed & Thu at 3 pm.#ranchomirageobservatory#observatory

A great experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. There's plenty of free parking the tour is from 3:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon Monday through Friday and it's free. We also got to see a 5-minute movie that was shown on the Dome where the big telescope is. I'll have to come back some Thursday night so I can look out of the telescope. That's next on my list. I'm from out of town this was just a short visit today and it's something I've been wanting to do is take the tour.

An amazing facility that hosts book presentations & signings, as well as the Rancho Mirage Writers' Festival (already sold out for 2024--a week after '23 wrapped up!) Tour their gemstones collection, and soon a Chihuly glass exhibit. This in addition to books for all ages, periodicals and computer stations. [Note: Google maps misdirected for this...continue east on CA-111 past the Thunderbird complex to Library Way.]

Very friendly and helpful staff and a great kids section, complete with several activities and lots of toys to keep them entertained for a solid hour (or more). We took our 3 and 5 year old on the free observatory tour (every weekday at 3:00, no reservation required) and they both loved the video projected into observatory dome. The evening viewing of the stars was also great - really well done, super informative, very nice staff and volunteers. Highly recommend both!!

This is an amazing library. The staff were so kind and helpful. I needed access to a computer and printing availability. They went above and beyond to assist me.I found the Book Nook on my way out, the donated book store. What marvelous and fun volunteers work in there. Was so fun to gain info about the area, the library and programs from them. Will be joining the library for next season!!

I was lucky to arrange my visit to include both the free public tour of the observatory and the "OPEN" free night to actually use the telescopes. Totally worth finding something to entertain myself with during the couple hours between the two (I recommend birdwatching in Blixseth) The astronomer, Eric, was awesome--knowledgeable, of course, but also a great communicator and personable, which can be rare amongst us big nerds ?. Eric obviously loves astronomy and sharing it. The facility is very cool, too. The big telescope is impressive; I love that it can be accessed by people in chairs. The library and observatory are nicely designed. The night event was pretty popular, and the volunteers were so kind to stay later than the planned time. I'd say get there early or right before the end to shorten your time standing in line, but it went pretty quickly, really, and Eric and the other volunteers had so much info to share. I loved it all.

Astronomer Eric entertained and educated the hundreds of people who showed up to see the green comet last night. We waited in line for over an hour and he did exactly the correct thing. He shared his enthusiasm. Wore a headset so we could hear and pointed out constellations with his laser pointer. He was the highlight of our trip to Palm Springs and we are grateful for his commitment to excellence. Give that man a huge raise! ???

I first went to the Writers Conference about 5 years ago. It was fabulous. The next year it was not nearly as good. It has deteriorated every year and is now simply a joke and an affront to anybody with a brain. It is simply a grotesque group of dangerous political left wing ideologues. Why would anybody pay an outrageous amount to hear a bunch of hate filled talking heads from CNN, The Washington Post, MSNBC, etc.? These same hacks are spewing their bile for free every day.As an old fashioned ACLU member, when the ACLU was classically liberal, I find it repulsive that this disreputable group never allows any ideas that are not already floating around in their echo chamber. They simply snuff out and lie any news with which they don't agree. The Rancho Mirage Mirage library should get rid of this group before their reputation is destroyed.

Really enjoyed my first time visiting this library. There is a telescope lending program that is so great. I've never experienced a library like this. I attended a poetry reading tonight (so creative, The Wordkeepers) with an incredible jazz harpist, Lori Andrews, playing before and after. Highly recommend this place...next time I'll stay late to experience the observatory. Great desert "hang".

As a freelance writer, I like to switch up my workspace every now and then. Love coming here to work. The atmosphere is quiet and clean with plenty of natural light. There are individual meeting rooms where I like to retreat if I'm working with another WFH friend. Nice being able to catch up while staying productive! Wi-Fi is reliable and fast, and there's ample parking as long as there isn't an event going on.I've been to other libraries in the valley and this is my favorite one!

One of the most beautiful libraries in the world, with a great layout to read a book in the many nooks and crannies. Sadly, they have ancient computers and don't Defrag or clean up files. So, they run very slowly and get jammed up all the time. Wait, It gets better, I looked up and there was many updates to windows 10. Assign someone to clean the files on each computer at night or you can problem the computers to do that daily at 2 am.

Such a beautiful location and library! I couldn't believe how big it is. Unfortunately the observatory was closed for a few days because of maintenance, but we will definitely be back when it's complete!
