Hopkins Wilderness Park is a small, peaceful natural area located in the suburbs of the South Bay. It features a very short trail, making it ideal for a quick walk or a relaxing short hike. The park offers a small lake with turtles and fish, providing a charming spot for visitors. The park is quiet, with not many people around, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.
The park is divided into two main areas. One is an open field with trees, picnic benches, a restroom, and plenty of space for children to play. The other part consists of sage-scrub habitat on a hill, which is a former military site with signs educating visitors about native plants like California Sagebrush, Buckwheat, and other sage varieties. The meadow below is dense sage-scrub habitat with native plants such as Island Bush Snapdragon and Monkeyflowers. Regular restoration work is carried out by volunteers to establish native habitat and bring back pollinators and birds.
Families appreciate the park for its kid-friendly features, including open spaces, a pond, and the availability of park ranger assistance during birthday parties. On clear days, visitors can enjoy ocean views. Despite some ongoing construction nearby, the park remains a serene and beautiful spot for grounding oneself in nature.
Great walking areas with beautiful view throughout the park. All incompased with picknick benches bathrooms and water fountains throughout.

This park is improving a ton. Much cooler than surrounding area, shady, new trees planted for the next generation of visitors, ponds, turtles, gas grills, picnic tables. Go explore and you will forget you are in Redondo.
