“The care my mother is receiving at the Sierra View Skilled Nursing Facility is so good it brings tears to eyes. The entire staff - medical, social work, administrative, support, dining, dietary - everyone! - has been warm, kind, competent, responsive, proactive, and just plain helpful. Even when things have slipped through the cracks, as will inevitably happen when caring for a group of people with complex medical needs, they have been gracious, quick to respond and acknowledge, and take action.The dining room, aka Founders Room, is a hub of activity during the day, full of windows and light, often music, sometimes with Piano Rudy playing for the residents as they dine. A variety of scheduled activities occur daily, both in the Founders Room and elsewhere in the facility, including The Bistro, a large, high-ceiling, many-windowed room where coffee and cookies and soft-serve ice cream is served up. Creative coloring, music and movies, “hand spa” aka full-on manicures, and gingerbread house making are just some of the opportunities for socializing, self-care, and creative engagement I’ve seen offered.But really, beyond responsive, competent care and social connection, the most pervasive and important element we are experiencing here is *kindness.* Real, present, grounded kindness, unforced and unhurried. I am so grateful that my mother has the opportunity to be cared for here. ?”
