“Very solid local nursery with a good stock of plants that are common and can do well in local yards. The gift selection in the indoor store is nice if you need a present for someone (gardener or not) and their Christmas store is always extravagant and festive. You won't find a large selection of California native plants here, but they do have a good selection of garden vegetable starts in the spring.”

“I love this place! Ok, I love hardware stores. It's got just about everything you'll need (no it's NOT home despot, which has its place in the annuals of hardware stores.) They have a lovely garden section with great help, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable (Ask for Peter.) They always have great seasonal selections as well as vegetable starter plants. Plus they always have good holiday decorations and inspiration. Their crew is a bit eccentric, which I think is a plus!”
“Very vibrant and amazing nursery. Employees let you browse at ease. The owner Xander is very knowledgeable and passionate about her business. They also have a great selection of indoor plants. It’s a little bit of a hidden gem and you need to take your time to browse as there are all these different sections to be discovered. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”

“I was recently at Sloat in Kentfield. It has a great selection of plants and pots and a knowledgeable staff. Today however what stood out is Skyler. I was standing outside my car because it wouldn’t start. I had called AAA to come and help me. At that moment Skyler, a Sloat employee, walked up and asked me if I was having car trouble. When I explained that the car wouldn’t start he offered to jump the battery. It worked! I was so impressed that I didn’t have to go into the store to ask for a jump, but he saw me standing in the parking lot and offered to help. Thank you Skyler for going out of your way to be helpful. I am very grateful for your assistance.”
“I have always received excellent customer service from Ace Hardware in Marin. Yesterday I was greeted with the comment, “May I help you?” And the service provided could not have been fully anticipated. John Troller went to the source; that is, the instruction manual of a new faucet available on the shelf. Three of us at home had worked on this faucet trying to fix it. John was able to fix it quickly, efficiently. I am very appreciative of his assistance. Now I do not have to call a plumber. The whole experience was actually enjoyable for me. Another fine Ace visit.”

“I'm so impressed with Lisa. She is warm, knowledgeable and very helpful. I visited a few months ago, asking questions about trees that can be planted in a container. The tree was going to be a memorial tree for my nephew. She told me to call 2 weeks before I needed it. I live 100 miles away. I called, she sent me pictures of the trees I was looking for. “The staff at Miller Sloat is downright amazing. I asked them to order a bunch of Venus Fly Traps for me (kids birthday party favors). They weren't my first call (but they will be from here on out), and a few other places I tried told me they were too hard to order in quantity. Sloat said no problem and ordered them the next day. The plants arrived a few weeks earlier than I needed. Instead of handing them off to me so I could do a bad job taking care of them at home, Steve (Sloat manager) offered to sell them in the store and reorder closer to my timeline. Throughout the entire process, the staff was incredibly communicative and generous. They wouldn't even take a deposit, but I am going to head down there today and insist they let me pay up front. I would give Sloat Miller 10 stars if I could.”
“Fantastic place. I was very busy and stressed at work and forgot to order my dad a gift. I live in SF and he lives in NYC I went to countless websites until I found Plant Shed. The had the perfect combo of thing my dad loves: coffee and flowers!
I ordered at 11 pm and the the gift was hand delivered by 3 pm the next day.

“the other day i went to goodman's to get some parts to fix a wheelchair handle. i could not fix it with the parts i bought and asked for help. one of the staff took it back there and fixed it, including a spring that i had missing, for nothing but the cost of the spring. we have got to treasure our treasures like goodman. five star”

“I needed a turnbuckle and fast. Not a single Ace Hardaware (or Lowes or Home Depot) had it in stock except in Fairfax. Picked it up curbside and Rupa brought it to my car. It was 1/2 and inch too big. Went looking for the next size smaller, only Fairfax had it. Picked it up first thing in the morning great service. Every employee was interested in me getting what I needed and Rupa searched it out for me and told me to return the first one for a refund. I had only been to this hardware/garden/curio store once before this weekend but all three of my experiences their were somehow better than any other hardware store. And I have been to a lot of hardware stores.”

“I've not been to Home Depot in quite a few years. Today, I walked through the doors, I noticed how organized this location was. I had a quick look around and realized, I needed help with not only answering a few questions about toilets, but getting the toilet I ultimately chose to the cash register. I found a gentleman named Brock, who answered all my questions about what they had in stock. He also helped with the handle for the shower. I felt like a VIP working with this man who ultimately asked for extra assistance from David, his coworker to put it in my car. Come to find out, Brock was the manager of this location. “I've been coming here to this location for the past 7 years. A few years ago the customer service wasnt great, downright super frustrating 3 years ago at the customers returns and online purchase pickup/returns desk; because the employees were a bit disinterested and unmotivated. In the past 2 years theres a notable improvement on the customer service at checkout area and at the returns desk. Employees are more attentive and better trained.
+++Theres a great employee, name unknown, running the tool aisle #15, he was working on fathers day early morning - kudos to him for being knowledgeable, interested and diligent in helping me find ryobi tools.
+++Stephon in the parking lot is excellent! He goes above and beyond in wrangling dolleys/carts and working hard to help customers load and unload materials. Stephon, withoout solicitation, noticed my brother Ioading 20ft pieces of lumber and literally jogged over to help him out. A+!
There could be a few more employees in the store aisles helpimg customers, and another floater employee on the returns desk when the line gets above 4 people waitimg in line.
