I'm flying into CA again and looking for a car rental. The price here was attractive - but then I remembered all the scammy encounters I had last time, and just paid more to book with Alamo. I feel great. Fox, I hope you go out of business! Sincerely, J. Mark

Rental was easy to do, with no line. After hours drop-off instructions were easy to follow. Only gripe was when I was charged for fuel, when I had already filled up at a nearby station and left the receipt in the car with the keys.Luckily a manager named Leanna emailed me to request feedback on my experience. I let them know about the fuel charge, and it was instantly reversed and credited back to my credit card.I will definitely be coming back here to Fox when I need a car.

Be very aware when renting from this place, they try to sell you every thing they offer and will slap it on like it belongs when it’s not necessarily needed. The staff started by trying to sell me insurance and looked annoyed when I declined it. Then she billed on the full tank of gas because “their gas is cheaper” but in reality you’re not gonna need a full tank when you return it.I also got the toll pass which is completely a scam. They barely explained it and just gave the price with the bill in the end. It’s $12.99 a day whether you use tolls or not. It’s highly unlikely you’re ever gonna use $13 in tolls every single day. I thought the toll pass was similar to EZ pass where you pay what you use, nobody is ever gonna use $13 in tolls a day. When renting from other places I’ve never had a staff member try to sell me everything and give minimal info so you’ll buy it like a shady salesman.Use the more reputable places if possible, any money you save here they’ll try to get you back much more with their add-ons.

I booked a car through Booking, with insurance included, on arrival at the counter, the agent forced me to take additional « required » insurance. The car was good (Dodge Charger R/T), a bit dirty but ok.We prepaid for a full tank and returned it half, but we were still billed for the total.Bad experience, establishment to be avoided.

Staff were courteous, the car was as promised, and it was less expensive compared to their competitors. They are based at the rental car center, when the other less expensive brands require a double shuttle. Would rent from them again.Baja tip: I found out after the fact that if you insure their cars with them, they allow some models into Mexico. Wish I had known that earlier.

For those who are under age under 20 please know that Fox does rent but their website those not reflect true prices. It does not include the rate for underage or insurance. You’re looking at $200-350 more than the website price. The rate for underage is not terrible and the cars are great. They did not charge me more for being underage and renting their luxury car. Overall they’re 3/5 and for those who are below 20 this is a great choice. Just be aware of the price difference.

Decent rates, friendly staff and easy pickup and drop off. My only issue was the forced coverage. Normally I decline and just use my credit card coverage, but they said I still need a separate policy. Unfortunately it was 50% of the total rental cost. So $80 on $150. Aside from that it was all good, just don’t like being surprised by 50% increases upon arrival.

I am giving them two star because of their staff members who work in the airport office. I had rented twice from this location for a total of about three weeks. First experience was that my 80 old mom and I had to wait for over two hours we were given our car. The lady who worked there kept telling us that we got there earlier than the time of our reservation and she could not give us a car until 30 min before the time of our reservation. Then she tried to talk us into upgrading our reservation in order to get a car right away. Unfortunately we could not cancel our reservation because we had already paid the rental amount in advance and gave up the cancellation option. This happened on November 26, 2023.Second experience was with another staff member, Jorge, when my wife had made a reservation and when she showed up there, he refused to give her a car she had reserved because her last name on her credit card that she made the booking was not matching her last name on her ID (she had both her ID and her credit card with her but she recently changed last name after we got married). She ended up paying more renting from another company on the spot. This happened on December 10, 2023.

It definitely feels scammy as others have shared. I just showed up to pick up my reservation 16 min before 10pm. My reservation was for 10 but my flight landed a bit early. They asked me to either wait 15 min or pay a higher daily rate. My guess is they would have pulled something similar had my flight showed up 15 min late… this is not how one should run a rental car business in an airport. I didn’t want to reward them so I just asked them to cancel the reservation

Reservation and check in was fine. Felt sorry for the 5 groups behind me because it's a very slow process and only one person working. Bet the last person waited over 1/2 hour. The car I was assigned could not have been dirtier. Do they not clean cars between customers any longer? The windows were the worst. But the entire car was filthy.

Normally, I would offer a me grace here but this guy was so rude. We arrived at the rental, nonproblem. A young couple was in front of us waiting. It took about 15 minutes. They were next so they went up and, the guy who ran that desk, after they were already there, held up his finger and said, "I'm going on break"Eventually, the couple in front was called up by another nice lady, I believe the manager, and, the guy came back. He was trying to be all chipper, asked how we are doing. Then we went to check in and he was hassling us on how it was booked on who was driving and what credit card is in whos name. My wife and I are of age, her being in her upper 30's and me , 40's. My wife told him he was being very rude and he said, how so? We then told him how we have been traveling for over 12 hours and, as soon as we got in line, he just walked off with no apology and took a break. He replied with an apparent attitude, "I have been working for 4 hours. I needed the restroom. This, of course, was not the problem. It is how he did it. I started to advise him how long our day was and how we just wanted to wrap it up and he said, "you know what, I am still on break, he slid me my drivers license back and credit card, and said he will let his manager take care of us while he finishes his break. I asked for his corporate manager and supervisors but, he just kept walking away.We just wanted to get to the hotel after being up all day. The manager came and helped us and she was very polite. Simply changed some things in the computer to make it easy. The guy came back and started yelling again which the manager told him to go in the back and she would take care of it.He replied, "Oh you are going to do that then" he went to the back break room and I heard a loud bang which I can assume was him hitting or kicking something. That was check in.When we returned the vehicle, we advised them that they only gave us the car with half a tank. They reviewed the car before we left but stated, they had given us a full tank. Long story short, we won that fight and they made the adjustments. Still worth noting for people to watch out. Had I not been watching, they would have charged me another half tank 2hich, in California at 6.50 a gallon, is expensive. Will never go to Fox again. I am a sales manager. I would have fires my person on the spot for handing back an ID and payment and telling a customer I am going back on break.

Got a good deal with my credit card rewards to rent a car through this company at a very good rate. My flight arrived at 9PM and I arrived a few minutes early to pick up my car. There was only 1 person working the counter with a line of 4 people waiting. Eventually another person came over to help. When I went to get my car the staff said they didn't have any cars in the size I reserved so they moved me up to the next size. I ended up with a Toyota 4Runner. The vehicle itself had a lot of damages throughout the car and I had to make sure the damages were documented by the staff before I left and there was no other vehicle to switch it to. The vehicle had 50,000+ miles already on it. I've never had a rental car that had more than 10,000 miles so this was odd. When I would drive the car on the freeway the steering wheel would start shaking once my speed was over 60mph. Overall, I would say the experience was average.

Horrible customer service. No wonder why this place was empty. Had to approach the girl ourself and was not greeted. We had a rental for an economy car for 10:00 AM. Was not able to get it until 3:30 PM. She was told that there is no more economy and they only hold for 6 hours. It hasn't been 6 hours! There was no communication to let us know this was going to happen. All they had was SUV, instead of offering us one for the inconvenience they charged us an extra $30, that's with a discount. It should of just been automatically a free upgrade. The whole time, there was no positive options and she was on her phone. The other customer service rep was searching alcohol on BevMo's website.Once we agreed to the upgrade, there was a $500.00 deposit, which seems pretty steep. We were told to go upstairs to get the car.We arrive upstairs, handed the lady the paperwork and she said someone is coming with the car. While waiting we notice an economy car sitting in their parking lot as well as another one that just been washed pulled up next to it. She then proceeded to clock out for the day and said bye to the fellow employee. We waited over 15 minutes until the employee asked us if we were waiting for a car. He had to look into it.Overall, we are not upset with the car not being available and paying the difference. It's the customer service! Try and see what you can do. Go the extra mile and make our day. They are definitely the frontier and spirit airlines of the car rental industry.

In all my years of travelling and renting a vehicle, never have I had a better experience. The staff, the vehicle, the ease of getting in and out of their location and knowing that all I had to do was show up, be handed the keys and not have to worry about filling up my gas tank before returning it, toll roads, etc., etc., made this trip (in and out of CA) one of the best from day one to the day we left. Our car was clean, fueled, and economical but above all, the staff made sure we knew they would take care of fueling the vehicle upon return because gas is so gosh darn high every where else and rather than we worry about trying to do that, they would take care of it and make sure we had a shuttle waiting to take us to the airport and to the terminal we needed to be at.....Staff were personable and professional and it was late when we arrived and at the crack of dawn when we left. We honestly have never had such a great experience anywhere else.

ADDITIONS at the end.I showed up later than expected. Now my car is gone and the only option is to either pay more or go cancel the reservation and get a last minute rental.Just heard the same game except for showing up early for the guy in front of me.Awful customer service. Bait and switch games. And try to find someone to get the car, which you'll have to wait a good while for.Just plain bad.UPDATEI forgot the two most fun parts:#1 - The guy at the counter told me I'd better prepay for gas because their prices were way lower than the gas stations out there. "Look!," he said, showing me a picture of a gas station sign with prices nearly $7/gal, "we only charge a little over $6/gal!"Current actual gas prices out in the San Diego area - $5.57#2 - Because I was late and they didn't have the vehicle I had reserved, I had to upgrade (since they obviously didn't have any cheaper vehicles) . When I get to the car pickup area, they go to get a car for me. Guess what model it was? That's right- the kind I had originally reserved. It's like I walked into a snake oil salesman convention.I've gotta go take a shower.
