The Hampton Inn San Diego-Downtown offers a convenient and comfortable stay in a good location close to many attractions on Harbour Drive and Little Italy. Guests appreciate its proximity to public transportation, including trolley lines, which makes exploring the city easy and budget-friendly, with rides costing only $2.50. The hotel features a clean and typical Hampton Inn room, with comfortable beds, good pillows, and a breakfast that includes eggs, waffles, and rotating hot items, along with fresh fruit. The pool area is a highlight, kept at a pleasant temperature and providing a relaxing spot for guests. Service at the hotel is generally friendly and helpful, especially the front desk staff. However, some guests noted issues with the elevators, as only one was working at times, leading to long wait times and inconvenience, particularly for those with heavy luggage or mobility challenges. During upgrades, some guests experienced noise and difficulty with stairs, which can be a problem during busy or late hours. Parking is available on-site, but at night, it may be challenging to find a spot. The hotel’s location is ideal for visiting local attractions, attending events like Comic Con, or catching transport to different parts of the city. While some rooms may face the train crossing or overlook less desirable areas, overall, the Hampton Inn San Diego-Downtown provides a good value, comfort, and convenience for travelers, with a few minor drawbacks related to elevator maintenance and room views.
Great location, but this hotel is very old. Luckily, it's within walking distance to fun spots! The customer service is AMAZING!!!!!
