“Stayed one night after a missions trip to Mexico and again for a 5 day stay in June 2026. Charming traditional hotel. Pretty lobby complete with books and DVD library for the room. Breakfast included waffles, cereal, oatmeal, boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, toast, juice, coffee etc. Staff was friendly. King Room was clean. Bed is comfortable . There are charging stations on the nightstand. My room on the third floor had plenty room, a microwave and mini frig, coffee maker, and there is an elevator which requires your room key to operate so I appreciated that extra level of security. I can't imagine any hotel being more convenient to everything. Average of 15 minutes to beaches, restaurants, Balboa Park, Sea World, Old Towne, etc. We arrived early in the morning and they allowed us to store our luggage until our room was ready, which was before 3p which was nice. Would definitely stay here again.”
“Last weekend we had an absolutely incredible stay at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Every member of the staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay special.
The pool area was a highlight of the experience. We were set up with chairs and an umbrella as soon as we arrived . The service was outstanding, and the food was fantastic — everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while being taken care of by such an attentive team.
The property itself is stunning, the atmosphere is luxurious without feeling stuffy, and the level of hospitality really sets this resort apart. We had an amazing experience and would absolutely return. Highly recommend the Fairmont Grand Del Mar for anyone looking for a truly first-class resort experience”

“We spent the past weekend for my husbands birthday and it was truly the best weekends I've ever had at a hotel! The staff is sooo friendly! The view is breathtaking, the pool is small but charming so if you're traveling with little ones it's the perfect pool and I got a one bedroom kitchen suite it's a cute room and it's decorated so beautifully and it comes with everything you need if you want to bring your own food and save and cook at the hotel or in my case my son has only safe foods that he will eat and I was able to do that because they provided everything! The only down side is there was ants in my room on the kitchen and on my bed sadly but the maintenance man came to spray raid and they went away the following night he changed the sheets for us and this just goes back to the staff being so great because they even gave us a discount for the inconvenience and I do not fault them at all because it's summer time by the beach bugs happen ❤ so anyways I will be returning and I love this hotel and want to make this a yearly trip for my family! Thank you to the staff again!”
“My son and I stayed here for two days beginning July 15th. We came to San Diego to visit friends.
This place was perfect for us. There were other families there so he had someone to play with in the pool.
We ate at the hotel restaurant twice one time for dinner and on our last morning we had breakfast at the pool.
The staff was very helpful and the service was fantastic.”

“Historic beauty in what has become my favorite location in San Diego. Easy walk into Hillcrest and to downtown. They remodeled the building keeping the historic nature in mind. The rooftop view is stellar with park views and bay views. I stay here monthly. If you happen to be here in St Pattys Day, it’s the perfect place to watch the parade. The parade doubles back so you can watch it on 6th and 5th Ave. The staff might be the best part of this experience. They are all super friendly and genuine. Mufasa is my personal favorite. Always smiling and ready for a conversation.”

“I had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn Express San Diego Airport-Old Town! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and check-in was an absolute breeze, and the front desk ladies were efficient and friendly. What really made this experience stand out was the complimentary hot breakfast and its dedicated airport shuttle. We specifically chose this hotel for its convenient transport, and the shuttle was perfectly punctual. A massive shoutout to our driver, Nick! He was incredibly friendly, handled all our heavy luggage with a smile, and got us to the terminal safely and on time. If you are flying out of San Diego International Airport, I highly recommend staying here for a stress-free travel experience.”

“We've stayed at this hotel 3 years in a row and our experience has been consistent. It's right in the heart of downtown S.D. so the location is great for doing the things one would like to do while visiting there. It's right across from Petco park. You can hop other green line train to go north or south. Then you can take that train to the Amtrak to travel further in Old Town. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance as well. The hotel itself always feels safe and clean. However there is a significant presence of unhoused people that seems to grow every year. But that hasn't been an issue for me I just stay aware. We did have a few small issues during our most recent stay. However the hotel dealt with everything swiftly and with kindness. Even the bellboy who helped us with our bags was helpful from the moment that we got there suggesting that he'd have extra towels sent up immediately.”

“I had a wonderful stay at Abpopa Hillcrest over San Diego Pride weekend. The location couldn’t have been better—right in the heart of Hillcrest and within easy walking distance of all the festivities, restaurants, bars, and everything I wanted to experience. From my fifth-floor room, the views were terrific and added to the overall experience.
The micro-loft concept is unique, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The only thing worth mentioning is that climbing up to the loft bed can be a bit challenging in the middle of the night if you need to use the restroom, so it’s something to keep in mind. That said, it was a small tradeoff for an otherwise enjoyable stay.
Overall, I found Abpopa Hillcrest to be a great value in an unbeatable location, and I would happily stay there again on my next visit to San Diego.”

Wow this hotel is like a Time Machine taking you back to California’s Golden Age! The vibes, building and aesthetic are nostalgic. You almost forget what year it is!
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are what they are. Some negative reviews make no sense, so take those with a grain of salt.
It’s a hotel, not a bed and breakfast.
The facility is very well maintained and patrolled. The area is quiet and perfect for families or get away couples.
My only suggestion to the hotel is maybe offer some sort of breakfast option or restaurant voucher. I understand that’s how costs are kept low, but maybe even offer some sort of grab and go breakfast for people staying.
Other than that it’s perfect!”

“Really enjoyed our stay here recently. We were in town for the Noah Kahan concert and the hotel’s location to Petco Park was so convenient & within 2 blocks walking distance, which made it really easy to not worry about logistics of getting to and from the park. The hotel itself is decorated beautifully, its welcoming and cozy feeling right upon walking in. Rooms were clean and comfortable, no complaints there. The staff at the front desk at every stop were accommodating, helpful and friendly. They also had a CA resident discount which was appreciated as well. Overall a nice location close to a lot of stuff in the Gaslamp area, and a great stay if you have activities or business in the downtown area.”

I only stayed one night as a spontaneous solo travel and this is exactly what I was looking for. It also helped that I got a really good rate. I highly recommend this hotel if you are under 21 and looking for a place that will allow you to check in!”
