They are a franchise so Hertz's 1800 cannot help you if you need it while traveling. They deliver the vehicle to you practically without gasoline. At the counter they are despots and they sell you insurance at a high price, plus the phone number doesn't work.Remember that when paying with a visa you are almost always covered by insurance, look for the information on the Internet. You can take an uber and rent in San Diego because unfortunately there are not many better options in the CBX

Good service, I know it was expensive, they charged me the right amount, for better service it is always good to take out comprehensive car insurance with 0 deductible, we rented for a week and it was excellent, they upgraded our car and it was in good condition. If you pay for the insurance you save yourself the problem, only if we rent a baby chair and it was a little dirty but other than that fine. If I recommend renting, apparently it is a company in the CBX that manages several insurance companies, take photos of the car before and after using it.

Worst car rental! DO NOT RENT HERE. I REPEAT.. DO NOT RENT HERE! Worst car rental ever!-Rude staff!-Broken cars-Alot of cosmetic damage too they might charge u for it so take a picture if you will rent!-They don’t inspect their cars before renting it to their customer. Our car overheated and we were stranded for 9hours without any help and you cannot find any direct contact numbers that you can call. It’s all from mexico. Finally someone answered and they said they will call us back. They returned our call after 7hours of being stranded. They will not give you another car to change your broken rental car. They will not tow it for you. They don’t care about you.We were stranded in the middle of the desert in las vegas with my kid. It’s a mechanical failure but they will not do anything to help you. It’s a “YOU DO YOU”.If it’s a mechanical failure you are entitle to get reimbursement and compensation. But you will waste alot of time dealing with them.So rent somewhere else and don’t rent here!Believe in all the reviews written here.I wish I can give them a negative star.

Good afternoon, a question: Could I rent a car in Long Beach and deliver it to the CBX?

My experience with Thrifty Car Rental at Otay Mesa CBX was incredibly disappointing, primarily due to their abysmal customer service. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that their staff lacked basic courtesy and professionalism. Not only were they unhelpful, but they also exhibited rudeness that was completely uncalled for. What exacerbated the situation further were the exorbitant extra fees that were tacked onto my bill without any prior notification. It felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of customers, leaving a sour taste in my mouth. The lack of transparency regarding these fees only served to amplify my frustration and dissatisfaction with the entire rental process. In conclusion, my experience with Thrifty Car Rental at Otay Mesa CBX was marred by their appalling customer service and the excessive additional charges they imposed. It's regrettable that what should have been a straightforward and convenient rental experience turned out to be a frustrating and unpleasant ordeal.

Decent rental car prices. Car smelled funny, but it was tolerable.

Terrible service, even with a reservation, they make you wait 3 hours to give it to you since they don't have cars and they also tell you that the next day they will change your car because it is already in service.

Horrible people! Didn’t allow me to rent a car with my official documentation from Mexico and still charged me for the reservation. No wonder why they have so many complaints. I work in the travel industry in Cabo San Lucas and have steered all my clients away from them because of my own experience and that of other people who I market too. It’s not worth them stealing your money!!

This location is actually as bad as the other Google reviews suggest. Avoid at all costs.

A charge of one additional day due to lack of personnel or mistake of one employee. Not acceptable!!!! I returned the rental at 8:10 and the final register on the receipt shows 19:27. I boarded my plane at 10am leaving the city. And no response at all at their webmaster. The employee when opened the gate said just drop the car here at the first aisle to the left and leave your keys inside over the dashboard, that will be all. Very disappointed and angry with this situation.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! They run out of cars and provide 0 options, they simply don't care. Site is packed and waiting lists take hours, they finally offer a triple of the original cost option. AVOID!

I rented a car yesterday at the CBX. The employee who helped us, Lucille Gonzalez was EXTREMELY RUDE to us. She works at the Hertz terminal of the CBX in San Diego, CA. She asked for a credit card and a license to make the contract and did not check they were under the same name (which is her responsibility). After making me sign the contract, she said that in order for my husband to drive she had to charge us $30 dlls more. I told her it was not fair she should’ve said that BEFORE making the contract and answered in a very sarcastic, rude way saying that I SHOULD’VE told her the license and credit card were not under the same name. I have never rented a car before and I do not know these rules, that’s why she has a job and supposedly got training for it- to check for these things, which is what I told her and she replied in a very rude and sarcastic way making me feel stupid AND expecting me to pay for her mistake. That’s not the right way to treat a customer instead she should’ve apologized to us and make it right. She is the one who got trained for the job and should be her responsibility to check the license and the credit card match BEFORE making us sign any contract!!! She ended up adding my husband’s name without a charge but acted extremely rude to me. It is disappointing. She shouldn’t work at Hertz with that attitude and customer service. Stay away from this place!!!

She lied. We booked a car in advance, and always use the insurance our credit card provides. The desk agent wanted us to email her our auto policy to some random Gmail address there on the spot. It was already late and we had been waiting in line for over half an hour, so when she said we could just pay $10 a day for Hertz insurance, we took it.She lied. We were required to sign a digital pad without seeing the invoice first, and when we got out to the car and took a closer look at the fine print, the insurance was $30 per day, not $10.If it hadn't been so late, and if any other car rental counters had been open, we would have cancelled our reservation and gone with another company at CBX.She also offered us a vehicle upgrade "for just $10 a day," and I'm so glad we said no to that! Who knows how much that would have cost in the end!Moral of the story: don't believe the Hertz CBX rental agent. Demand to see what you're signing, even if she balks. And better yet, rent from another company!
