Heikoff IMAX Dome is a unique and engaging theater located in Balboa Park. Visitors enjoy the immersive experience of the dome screen, which surrounds them with the projected images, creating a feeling of being inside the movie. This is especially fun for children, as it makes the viewing feel like being in a habitat or environment of the film, such as a panda's world. The theater offers comfortable seating, with higher level chairs that allow for a good view without craning the neck, though some reviews mention that seating can be uncomfortable for certain shows. The theater also features a well-stocked gift store and an entry coordinator for guests to check out additional items. Beyond the theater, Balboa Park offers many activities for families, including the Fleet Science Center, which is across from the Natural History Museum. The science center has many interactive exhibits, a toddler play area, and areas focused on STEM topics like energy, climate change, and water treatment. Kids can enjoy the Kid Play City with computer stations and a play grocery, as well as fun features like an indoor tornado. The science center provides in-and-out privileges and a small onsite cafe, making it a great destination for families to explore, learn, and have fun.
The theater was recently redone in 2023 and is state of the art. I recently saw Blue Angels, and the sound and visuals make you feel like you're in the cockpit of the airplane. Highly recommend.

suggest the theatre show contemporary films, like the new Mission Impossible. sales would increase a lot!

Nice theater! Had a great experience and just wish I had more flexibility on my schedule to go see more of the movies played here
