Excellent local bike shop with a personal touch! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to help — whether you're getting a quick tune-up, shopping for gear, or just asking questions. What really stands out is how much the owners care about their customers and the cycling community. You’re not just another sale here; they take the time to make sure you're taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone who wants great service and a shop that truly values its customers. I will be doing my first Century ride next week and thanks to the team, they helped me get on a Scott Speedster 30!!

Reasonably priced and did a good job on everything (brakes, tubeless set up, basic servicing) BUT were absolutely inept at working with waxed chains. My wife brought in my bike, as I was at work during their hours, and they mansplained to her that the drive needed to be cleaned and effectively made her feel like this was the only option. Any bike shop worth their salt should know better about waxed chains and that the waxing process also cleans the chain and therefore the drivetrain does not need to be degreased, which they did, at an annual service. The only silver lining is they used Silca’s Chain Wax Prep Solution so I didn’t need a new chain. Also learned after the fact that the shop as a whole does not recommend wax chains at all. This downed my bike for a week as I was unable to hot wax till the weekend. IF YOU USE WAXED CHAINS DO NOT COME HERE.

These guys are the best. I’ve walked my bike in with a flat tire at least six times and they’ll fix it on the spot, or I might have to wait an hour at the most. That wouldn’t happen at Trek Superstore. Friendly and informative staff, and great prices for new bikes.

I stopped by MJ’s Cyclery to look for additional lights for my bike and had a great experience. I was helped by a very knowledgeable and patient employee who walked me through all the options and made sure I found what I needed. The customer service was excellent. I would strongly recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality gear and helpful service.

Ive been to many bike shops over the years, but MJs takes the cake as one of the most honest, professional, and helpful that can be found in San Diego. They worked hard to set me up with a commuter bike, a Marin gravel bike, and keep it in one piece as I subject it to San Diego roads. When the frame cracked after three years of heavy use, they got a new frame and fork, a huge upgrade from what I had, and with the old parts built me a new bike - No charge and no questions asked! If you are serious about cycling, these are the people for you!

This is my favorite shop. Parking in the area isn't great, but they have a small lot just south of the shop where you can park for free and there is almost always an open spot.

Absolutely amazing! Great customer service with a fast turnaround. Shout out to Ryan who was wicked nice and tried to save me money . (I needed a new crankarm ; he recommended I go through the manufacturer ...in any event - it ended up being cheaper through MJs ) . I brought my e-bike in on a Sunday afternoon, and it was ready on Monday!
All the guys are wicked nice and helpful. Thank you MJs!

Writing a brief review after having bought a Transition Sentinel 8mo ago (superb all around bike). The company has been phenomenal. The owner is a stand up guy who is passionate as heck about his shop and is always either working on a bike or helping a customer. The staff are knowledgeable and are open about what they do and don't know and will point you in the right direction (experts within the shop on street vs mtb for instance). I had a couple parts break unluckily, however, I was lucky to be in the right hands. Parts were replaced or warrantied promptly, they even sometimes have lender parts. So far as I understand, MJs will provide tune ups for five years after buying a bike. Can't see how I could have gotten better service, very sad to be leaving the area soon-for the sake of this bike shop.

Used to like this shop more, but over the past year or two the shop has gotten noticeably worse. Quality of repairs is worse, and price has gone up like crazy.
They replaced a chain and did a tune up for me and charged $200. I didn't know what to say, but I will not be going back. Every time I've come the price for regular services has gone up.
Additionally, the owner seems angry that you bring him work. Wholly dislike this place.

Every visit to this shop makes me wish I could add a star, but I'm limited to 5. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They put up with all my questions. :) They've gone out of their way to help service my bike. A great bike shop for buying bikes, accessories, or upgrades, and the perfect spot to have your bike tuned up or otherwise serviced.

Highly recommended - great service and fairly priced.
I was a walk in needing some emergency work done on my bike leading up to a race and they sorted me out. Thanks.
