Have to spend hours on calls with them with the worlds worst hold music. Just let there be silence at least. This company does not respect anyones time.

Anthem makes reimbursement impossible. Consistently inconsistent and intentional obfuscation with their requirements creates hours and hours of work only to be denied. Incompetent customer service that talks in code without explaining.

I was in a motorcycle accident and felt ok after the accident, but wanted to just get looked at after the accident just in case anything was wrong.I went to this hospital and they got me in for xrays. They told me that I seemed fine but they didn't have all the medical equipment to run a catscan and such to make sure I was ok...so they pressured me into an ambulance ride to go from UCSF to Zuckerburg. I said I really don't want to do that because I was afraid of huge medical bills and I think that I am okay. But they insisted and I caved under their guidance. About an hour later of me sitting there, they brought an ambulance to UCSF and shoved a painful IV into my arm...for what reason? I have no clue as I had been sitting in the hospital for an hour with no IV in my arm... Then they lifted me into the ambulance and slowly drove over to zuckerburg where they "activated" emergency procedures. I was perfectly fine and they activated emergency protocol? what the hell? So now I get into the emergency room and they rip out the IV from the ambulance company and painfully poke both of my arms with a larger IV. FOR WHAT REASON??? I STILL DON'T KNOW. I was conscious with no internal pain and it was over 3 hours after my accident at this point.Even the doctors at this point realized that this was BS because after they saw how fine I was they slowed down significantly and it took another 3.5 hours to get a catscan finished and be released from the hospital. They didn't even clean or patch up my roadrash!!! I had to ask for a band aid and some cleaner!!Then to top it all off, I get the huge medical bills in the mail a month later with a ton of out of pocket expenses that my insurance wouldn't cover. What is the point of insurance? you pay a ton of money every month and if you get hurt - they don't cover it. What a broken system this is...And thats not all! I lost my job and income from Covid and could not pay if I wanted to because unemployment barely covers rent. But not to worry - they have a grant program that could help pay the bills if you cannot...however, they base the help they offer on LAST YEARS income!!! "so what was your income before COVID effected your life? oh it was 80k? well we can't help you then. Sorry sir."This is seriously a horrible medical system and experience...all parties involved did not have me and my well being in mind. they had the bottom line of the hospital in mind and that is a very sad thing. After this experience, I will second guess seeking medical attention if I get hurt in an accident for fear of the additional pain and hardship that a hospital will cause in my life... To the doctors/nurses that helped me - I appreciate you and I thank you. To the medical administration, insurance companies, and government who supports this system, I say shame on you.

Absolutely pathetic, the billing department in three short months this calendar year has doubled my premium. Not for any increase in service or product, but because they employ imbeciles who should fired . Smells like a "B - O" plan to me. I've already filed a formal complaint with Medicare. I think all with concerns should do as well

They have what seems to be the broadest local network, best discounts, most dependable website (lookup answer DIY) and easiest referral and approval for my local medical groups/specialists (except for prescription pre-authorization - which, frankly, is fraught for problems with all). The special, extra programs around wellness, etc. have been pretty good (which I found through the website). When it comes to healthcare insurance and healthcare providers in the US - all I've been with have had their hiccups, sometimes major disappointments and frustrations - unfortunately.

do not, and i repeat, do not sign up for this insurance in San Francisco. Half of the people who they have listed as pcp are no longer dealing with this company and i dont blame them. they are only out there to get your money. please choose another insurance.

Absolutely horrendous service. Continued to get the run around from multiple departments and poorly trained call center staff who had no ability or power to help resolve any issues.

absolute worst. If I could give -10 stars I would. Need to be sued for malpractice. Denying prescriptions from my doctor and then tells my doctor which ones they will cover, the ones they said they would cover are not for the treatment in question and could've been very dangerous and made me very sick. Pre-registered for a surgery, the day after my surgery while I was in recovery, they sent out a letter stated it was denied because it was "medically unnecessary". Thanks to my amazing doctor for fighting it and getting it approved. These people are just he worst. Greed and incompetence that's all it is. This bafoons get almost $800 a month from me, yet instead of helping me get well and manage my health they actually make it worse. Hope they all burn in hell for what they have done to me.

1 star is much too generous for this heaping pile. So deceptive. They changed their so call PPO plan to not really PPO but do you think they would inform you of the details of said change. Hellz no. Their own damn web site showed that they covered my hospital BUT they don't cover a single physician or nurse in said hospital. So who the heck is going to read my MRI results, the janitor? But wait it gets worse. Not only did they charge me for the full doctor's bill of the MRI, since the bill is now considered out of network not a single penny even counts towards your max out of pocket. That's right, had the doctor charged $1 million I would have had to pay $1 million. This year they changed it to EPO instead of PPO because the state of CA is suing them for fraud over this. And guess what the phone drone told me. "oh sure you can see whatever doctor you like you just have to pay a co-pay of 100%". wha?!?!?! Tell me again why I even need insurance if I'm paying 100% anyway. That's just the tip of the b.s. I have had to deal with at this place.
