Booksmith is a beautiful, cozy, and well-curated bookstore located on the historic streets of Haight-Ashbury. It is a wonderful bookstore with a large selection from every genre imaginable, well organized and lovingly displayed. The layout is great, with items both high and low within reach. While each genre is not extensive, the selection is thoughtfully intentional with something for everyone, including lots of fun treasures for book lovers. These include wrapped books with a single sentence on the wrapper, cute merch such as totes, buttons, and journals, and an assortment of wrapping paper and cards. The children’s section has beautiful picture books, graphic novels, and books from early readers through YA. The shop is special and well-stacked, with hand-written department signs and staff notes with book-reviews next to the books. Experiences with customer service vary; some find the staff friendly and welcoming, while others note the vibes aren't very friendly. Overall, it is an exemplary neighborhood bookstore, a great place to escape to, and absolutely worth a visit.
I've come here a couple of times and love the selection. Just off the busy road, it's a great place to escape to and find an interesting read. Customer service is interesting... I can't say I've had an outwardly bad experience ever but the vibes they give certainly aren't very friendly.

Haight St. is lucky to have such an exemplary new bookstore. I kind of fulfills my ideal of what an excellent neighborhood bookstore should be. I work at Bound Together Books sometimes (the anarcho/lefty store at the other end of the Haight Ashbury) and I recommend this place to people all day long.
