Mel Rice - STUDIO CERAMICA is a sustainable, fun community pottery studio. It is not a chain and is run by a female, Latina, San Franciscan production potter. The studio produces all its glazes, slips, and engobes in house and recycles every gram of clay. It offers basic hand-building and clay throwing courses, plus monthly full access studio memberships. The space is gorgeous, well organized, and has every resource one could ever need, including an outdoor deck. It is a space to learn about clay in all its forms and to tune out of reality. The classes are excellent, fun, and informative for all levels. The instruction is incredible, with patient, encouraging, and passionate instructors who really want students to learn. They provide helpful guidance, making it possible for beginners to create things they are proud of in only a few weeks. The open studio time is very helpful. The environment is great, supportive, and dog friendly. The culture is a real community, offering a wonderful way to be a part of it. The studio is highly recommended.
It was a fantastic way to relax after work while learning how to create beautiful and useful things. Tiffany is a great, attentive teacher. Highly recommend!

My whole family came in for the one-day class and had a good experience. Vincent did a lovely job with my 8yo son, who started learning the basics of throwing on the wheel in a camp this summer.

Studio Ceramica hosted my son’s 10th birthday and it was a hit! The staff was amazing with the kids, and the whole vibe is just so chill and welcoming. The kids didn’t want to leave!
