About SF76
SF76 is a store in Japantown offering a well curated inventory of traditional and fancy Japanese home goods. Customers describe a lovely, familiar vibe with beautiful, high-quality items including tea cups, tea kettles, jewelry, and ceramics. The merchandise is real and not plastic, with many noting the selection is unique and rotates periodically, encouraging return visits. The store offers complimentary gift wrapping, with some staff providing above and beyond service, such as creating custom, pretty wraps for purchases. However, experiences with service are sharply divided. While many staff are described as pretty nice, helpful, and kind, one specific associate—a shorter girl with long black hair and bangs—is repeatedly cited for creating very strange, creepy, and rude interactions. Multiple reviewers report being followed around the store as if suspected of stealing, experiencing intense staring from close proximity, and engaging in awkward confrontations, such as a tug of war over a small glass item. This associate has also argued with customers over simple requests, like adding padding to a shipment, making the shopping experience feel not super worth it. General service complaints include that the business does not return messages, fails to follow through on orders, and does not accept cash, which some find difficult. The products are acknowledged as great and deserving of support as a small business, but many feel the prices are very overpriced, a feeling compounded by the inconsistent and sometimes bad service. The overall impression is of a store with excellent, high-quality merchandise that is undermined by stressful interactions with one particular staff member and unreliable administrative service.

Beautiful Japanese ceramics, homeware, and kitchen tools.

Good vibes. Prices roughly quadruple what it is in Japan (scissors for 1100 yen in Japan aka $7.33 cost $29.50)

My house is filled with items from two shops in SF. Acacia in the financial district, and SF76 in Japantown. I demand the best quality and both stores deliver. Well curated inventory with lots of items added periodically to keep me coming back. I value real items and not plastic trash. So this is where I look.
