We ordered the BBQ Thai Style Marinated Pork and the Crab Meat Noodle. I wouldn’t recommend these dishes. While they were ok but other guests meals looked better. The employees were very kind so I look forward to trying it again.Food: 3/5

We stopped in about 40 minutes before close. The staff was still very welcoming and accommodating and straightforward about when we could get a last order in. We ordered the combination Thai Boat Noodle flat rice noodles, Kra Prow Moo Grob (Crispy Pork Belly), Green Papaya Salad, and Chicken Fried Garlic. We asked for everything to be spicier than Thai spicy, but I felt like the heat was less than that. The flavor of everything was great though and we actually finished off the four dishes. I liked the Kra Prow best, and the Fried Garlic was good with chili oil added. We got both of those with rice, which again, was cooked perfectly. We also got a pandan cake dessert that wasn't on the menu but was at the counter for $4. This was a great place for our last meal in San Francisco and I would definitely go back on another trip to the city.

Yummy Thai Street food restaurant in SF. I have been eating here since 2010. Zen Yai is one of Thai people’s favorite restaurant in town. Fried crispy pork with basil is the best one for me. It’s spicy and delicious! Another one is PadThai, it’s very tasty.

Ordered Prik prow and pad thai, both delicious. Their medium spicy for prik prow is too spicy for me. Asian size serving (just right amount).Staff are very friendly.I didn't get to finish but still brought home to go. The price is okay.Just walk or take the bus here because street parking is always full.

Love the food. The boat noodle is one of the best I had. Price is reasonable. The location is not in safe neighborhood but seems ok when we visit. We went there for dinner. All the food we ordered were yummy.

Zen Yeah! Crazy good. Pad Kra Pao is full of flavor, fragrance, and spice. Papaya salad is bright, tangy, spicy, crunchy, and fresh. We also had the Yen Ta Fo, which is maybe advanced for my current palate, but was so cool to be able to try.Pad Kee Mao was a miss in my book, lacked the dimension of sweetness (oyster sauce?) that I love about that dish. Nice variety of vegetables though, and the noodles were well cooked. The absolute quality of the Pad Kra Pao and Papaya Salad are enough to keep me coming back and trying more of the menu. Prices are ultra-reasonable.

Was here years ago and I'm glad that they survived. Mainly came here for the small bowl of boat noodles and ordered more while dumping the old soup into the new one. Came here with my uncles and we ordered a few things. Can't go wrong with the pad Thai and the pineapple fried rice. Also ordered the appetizer platter as well as the red curry with duck. Had a small feast and everything was delicious

If you wanna get truly authentic, no-nonsense Thai food this is THE place, period. It's the place where Thai immigrants and travelers alike seek out whenever we crave a piece of home, it's the place recommended in Thailand's most popular forum as a definitive Thai food experience in the entire bay area. The only thing we ask of you is please, please keep it this way.

I wish i was hungry enough to get more food but my experience at Zen Yai was amazing! The server seemed to be the only one working but she made it work! She was very attentive and gave great service. I ordered a pad thai and it was actually spicy which I loved! The price was great too despite how expensive thai food can actually be. So happy to have this place walking distance while i'm in sf for the week. I will be back ! soo good.

Authentic Thai food. The small bowls of boat noodles were terrific to explore variety. My favorite was the regular boat noodle bowl. Just spicy enough and lots of wonderful flavor.

Outstanding Thai food! Our family ate dinner at Zen Yai tonight and it was excellent. We had pad se-ew with chicken, prig-khing moo grob with pork belly, holy basil with ground beef, and red curry duck. We had mild or medium spicy because Thai level spicy is too hot. The pad se-ew was delicious with a special tasty soy sweet vinegary sauce coating the noodles. The red curry duck was very good. The pork belly was excellent with a crispy skin. A delicious Thai meal!

My favorite Thai restaurant in all of the Bay Area. Authentic flavors, love their secret menu and their price is still very much affordable for the amount of food for an SF restaurant. Hands down the best Thai boat noodles! We've been going here for years, our usual go to for Thai food.
