The Santa Clara County Clerk Recorder'a Office provides various services such as hard copies of birth certificates, social security cards, death certificates, and an onsite chapel for marriage ceremonies. There is a dedicated parking lot and large building numbers to distinguish the differences between them. I came here to retrieve a birth certificate. Once I was inside building 110, I went to window 13 to check in with the employee and was provided a form to complete for the birth certificate request. I returned the form back to window 13 and was provided with a printed number for the queue ticketing system. I waited for approximately 20 minutes and the automated telecom system announced my ticket number. The employee verified the form details and printed a hard copy of the birth certificate. The cost per birth certificate is $32 and there's a $2.50 processing fee if using a credit or debit card. If paying with cash or check, there's no fee.

Came in to get my birth certificate and waited about 30 minutes or so without an appointment. Came in early and parked at the meter when it was free and was able to leave before it needed to start being paid. Quick and easy. System is similar to the DMV, but it's a bit quicker.

Walked in around 11am on a Friday for death certificate copies...walked out right about 11:15am.... Definitely smart to fill out and bring your notarized application upon arrival, saves LOTS of time and hassle. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Be fore warned if you have a traffic ticket or fix it ticket from south San Jose (even downtown where I got mine) you actually need to go to the Morgan Hill courthouse. I received a letter in the mail that says to report to the SCS Courthouse. I went to this courthouse at 4:30pm on a Monday because the hours online said 8-5. I get there to find out they were already closed. Fine. I decided to try Thursday during my lunch since they apparently leave early. I call and nobody answers the phone for 20 mins. Okay fine, I understand long wait times, I'll just drive over really quick and take care of it. I get to the clerks office to a lady on the phone with a personal friend / family member. That's probably the long wait time! :) She hangs up when Im in line and informs me that surprise! Traffic division is actually at the Morgan Hill Courthouse now! 30 Minutes away! And they're open 8-3pm during the week and 8-12 Fridays. Awesome! Even on the SCS website for reporting a proof of correction you must report "To the County Clerk" but it doesn't say which one! They make it sound like getting a ticket cleared is no problem only to throw you in circles for days and hope you figure it out. How is anyone who works a day job supposed to go to the courthouse? I will never understand. Hopefully everyone learns where they work and how to mail docs soon.

Super nice people and very helpful! I came very unprepared and they were all super kind to me and help me make an appointment. Besides my own faults, the process of getting a copy of my birth certificate was smooth and quick!

Got our marriage license here. Walked in and were in and out in under an hour (fill out the application online first to save time). I later needed my birth certificate and got it within 30 minutes. I got my marriage certificate after our wedding (took about 2-3 weeks after our pastor mailed the license in). Call ahead to check if it's ready. Mine wasn't and she recommended I call back Friday and sure enough it was ready. I was in and out in 45-60mins. I'm surprised that this government office was so efficient and friendly. I expected them to be like dmv employees lol. Everyone was great.

I'm getting county clerk- recorder a five star Checking in was really fast & the people that were helping me was so nice :) I came here to get my daughter birth certificate for school Arrived at 8:30 & got out at 9:10 I highly recommend come in person getting your birth certificate instead of requesting it online hehe :)))

Friendly, fast, and efficient process server registration. Was seen in less than 5 minutes and finished the entire process in less than 30 minutes.

I visited them in December 2021 to get the birth certificate for my daughter and I was so impressed by the courteous, friendly and helpful staffs, right from the people at the front desk. I was able to walk-in and after a short wait at the non appointment queue (the appointment was only available for late February at that time).Overall, it was such a pleasant experience at a government office. Thank you.

Absolutely horrible experience and zero accountability by the Santa Clara County's Recorders office. I needed a birth certificate, found there is no walk in option at the time and it was not clear if they were taking appointments so I mailed my docs in. According to their site the turn around time would be 3-4 weeks due to COVID. I needed that birth certificate within that time frame so that my son's medical insurance dropped. I opped to do it and that was a mistake!Fearing that I would not get the birth certificate on time, I became proactive and found that I could now schedule an appointment to come in and get this taken care of. Luckily I was able to schedule an appointment just before I had to submit the birth certificate.Since I did not receive anything from the recorders office and it was past the processing time that was on their site, I assumed the check was lost so I placed a stop payment.To my surprise I received a birth certificate in the mail after 8 weeks of mailing the docs need for a birth certificate. A another somewhat surprise came a week later telling me I owe $50 for a return item fee and the $28 for the birth certificate. If they do not receive a payment in 15 days I would be put to collections. The gall of this agency to now put me accountable when they couldn't not be held accountable themselves. So I sent an email to them about my situation and left a vm to June Aliason who sent me the letter.I receieved a phone call from June the next day to let me know she got my message and that she would get back to me the next day about seeing if her supervisor can look into waiving the fee. She didnt get back to me until a couple days later to just to weakly tell me nothing can be done. I understand that there have been a lot of issues during COVID and I personally have worked everyday with the public since COVID hit. I think its a convenient excuse for them to say well due to COVID we couldn't get you want you wanted in a timely manner. Why can't I use the excuse that due to COVID that this fee I am being charged so going to set me and my family back which will cause a hardship and one of the original reasons why I placed a stop payment on the cashier's check . They don't care.I'm not sure if I can sue them for damages caused to unnecessary stress due to this ordeal, but now I have to drive all the way down to San Jose to give them money I don't have so there won't be a warrant for my arrest. Santa Clara County Recorder you are disgusting and I hope you rot in hell, but you don't care what I think anyways.Thank you so much for making me accountable for your lack of actions. I hope to receive more erroneous fees from you because of your ineptitude.

Came in to Santa Clara County Clerks Office for some documentation papers I needed for my son. I was a little lost and not sure where to go. Stopped in at the information center and explained what documentation I needed. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful in pointing me in the right direction of where to go to get what I needed. She even took the time to get me a record number and address of where I needed to go. She also rote down the website where I could find the other documentation I needed. She had a line forming however she still took the time to help me out. I was very appreciative for that and thanked her for help and time. If in the future I need to return I know I will be taken care of.
