“I find the selection and prices nice, however, the store is often messy when i go in. Makes it harder for me to find what I need and sometimes the employees take forever to come and unlock the cages for the locked up stuff. Giving it 4 stars because i understand working retail and being understaffed to an extent.”

“I always enjoy shopping at Flax, today was better than ever. I met Jane Andreasen, an amazing woman who manages the pens and pencil department. I happened to have pictures of each pen in my collection that needed refills. She immediately recognized each brand and model and knew the history of all of my pens, some 40 years old. Of course I purchased each refill she recommended and then began to look into other products she liked. We spent the most pleasant hour at her counter. I learned more about pens, ink and pencils than being an architect for 50 years.

If I were wealthy, I would buy this woman a store of her own to share her passion with the public. Thank you Flax, for having Jane manage a part of your store.

“I worked with Henry to hang a few pieces I bought while traveling. He works very meticulously and you can tell takes pride in his work. Very friendly and communicative. Will definitely use BSAB for the next piece of art, too.”

“TKB is the premier site for professionals who are crafting cosmetics for sale as well as those who make their own cosmetics and skin treatments! The staff at TKB are always ready and willing to help a newcomer with recipes and ideas for creating quality cosmetics, skin treatment and nail products! The mentors at TKB are always willing to help or answer any questions their customers may have. Pricing is fair and the quality of products sent by TKB only pales in comparison to the outstanding customer service give by Kaila and her team!”

“Great place to find art supplies at an affordable price. Parking can be a bit difficult to find on the weekends, and sometimes items are a hit or miss. I would definitely recommend checking it out during the weekday for the best items”

“"I'm going to the candy store!" I holler as I head out the door. I got to visit this Emeryville location twice before they closed for the move to Alameda. Wish I had thought to go sooner but in hindsight probably good that I didn't or I'd be more broke. If you love working with glass this place is a must. I love working with Bullseye rods for lampworking and their fusing products are fantastic as well almost to the point of being overwhelming. I want all the things. The staff is incredibly friendly & helpful (enablers!!!!) So looking forward to seeing their new candy store location in Alameda when they reopen.”

“Blick is my go to place for art materials. The staff is always incredibly helpful not only in finding items, but advice about how to use them. Kudos to Elaine for helping me today figure out how to blow up a painting using Blick materials. Thank you, Elaine!”

“We took our six year old granddaughter to Michael's to purchase a variety of art supplies. The organization of the store encouraged her to consider projects rather than processes. The placement of high cost visually stimulating items nearby more basic supplies distracted her train of thought. While the pricing was fair and the quality good, the experience did not aid her in becoming a good shopper or a good artist.”
