we found the hotel to be clean, and the service to be excellent, rooms were nice, front desk was very courteous, my mom who has many medical issues, was not feeling well and we asked to check out 1 day early and they said absolutely no problem. Most hotels would give you a hard time the gentleman at the front desk, think his name was Matthew (possibly) was very kind and understanding and credited the last day in full.

Nice hotel I had an interior room which was nice with a balcony over the pool. Not too loud first day breakfast included some rubbery potatoes, second day breakfast included biscuits and gravy which is always a plus and made up for the first day breakfast. I'm about Tuesday and Wednesday night they had free beer tastings in the lobby a plus plus

We stayed 3 nights and had a great time at this hotel. The pool area is so beautiful, such a great place to hang out, swim and relax. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The location is great: right next to Laguna Lake Park, a perfect place to walk the dog or go for a run; the mountain behind the hotel is also a beautiful place to go for a quick hike. There are also good shops and restaurants nearby.Walkability: We easily walked into downtown SLO and loved having the other parks nearby.

My wife and I spent two nights at The Best Western Plus Royal Oak during a long weekend trip to San Luis Obispo for a friend’s birthday. Overall, the stay was delightful, highlights including the staff, cleanliness and attention to detail of the property and rooms, location, and bang for the buck. First the staff – they are wonderful! We found everyone helpful in recommending places to visit, restaurants and bars to dine and drink, and finding the right way to navigate around SLO. The property Is meticulously maintained and the rooms were modern and spotless. I especially appreciated the attention to detail, with things like the free, full coffee bar in the lobby, the excellent complimentary breakfast buffet, the quality and comfort of the beds, linens and pillow, and the massive hot tub for unwinding at the end of the day (seriously, most hotels don’t have pools that big!) Most importantly for us, the property was peaceful and quiet, affording sound sleep both nights for me and my wife. The hotel is a quick drive or Uber ride from downtown SLO and splits the difference between SLO and the nearby beach communities which are a wonderful day trip. The Best Western is also stumbling distance from the iconic Madonna Inn which was a nice bonus after a few stiff drinks at the Silver Bar Cocktail Lounge. Regarding price, the Best Western over-delivered for the low price per night. Having a lot of experience with different hotel chains due to work travel, I felt this one was a bargain. Altogether, the Best Western Royal Oak played a huge role in creating a memorable and enjoyable weekend for our friend’s birthday (worth noting that other party attendees from out of town stayed in the same hotel and had similar rave reviews). We loved SLO and will definitely be back and this hotel will be our home base. If you are looking for clean, convenient, delightful accommodation in SLO that will stretch your dollar well beyond your expectations, look no further than Best Western Plus Royal Oak.

Excellent Best Western hotel. The facilities feel updated and clean. Rooms are carpeted with semi-plush flooring and amenities are new and fresh. Rooms with a balcony facing the pool are even more luxurious feeling with seemingly larger floor plans. The staff is friendly and well-trained. Available snacks during the evening are a great touch. The available daily coffee is also much better than other BW locations. The heated pool and jacuzzi are one of the best I have ever visited. Opened till 10 pm, it is a great place to relax. The patio is big and resort-like with plenty of seating. The outdoor gas fireplace is also another great attention to detail. The complimentary breakfast is served in a separate building, but the room is set up making things feel special. Dual waffle makers are a nice touch to accommodate a busy morning. Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, and hot oatmeal are a very welcomed way to start off the day.

My boyfriend and I were in town for only one night but will be returning as soon as possible! We were extremely impressed with the managementof this location as every aspect of the our time here was so positive. Every person we interacted with was extremely pleasant and ensured we had everything we needed. The man working the front desk by himself the morning of the 19th was very friendly and helpful. I had asked for some pain releiver due to terrible cramps and when he saw that the hotel was out of stock he looked through his personal belongings to try to assist me. He didn't end up finding any medication but his thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. Not often do people go out of their way to help strangers! The room itself was very clean, spacious, and smelled fresh. We did not notice any noise from our neighbors and the surrounding area was quiet enough that we could have the balcony door open without having to deal with noise from traffic or pedestrians. The continental breakfast was serviced by two lovely women who seemed to work well together to ensure the guest had everything they would need for a quick bite. Bonus points for the hot drink machine in the lobby, I was able to get unlimited hot chocolate, and the fun halloween decorations in the lobby. Thank you to everyone in the team who helped ensure our trip was so enjoyable!

I stayed in this Best Western for one night while seeing a show at the Madonna Inn. It was an easy and well lit walk to do at 10 pm, which was great. The staff was incredibly pleasant, both at check-in and the multiple interactions I had throughout my stay.

Was at an Air B&b but the boys are back in town. Thank you Stacey for reaching out and we are so happy with the fire pit and new spa. Breakfast is great and reception with Brittany is my favorite. Thank you for saving us that that other place. We appreciate you!

Excellent hotel for dog owners. Next to a great park with an off-leash dog area. The pool and spa were great, as was the staff. Managers happy hour was nice too.

I'm not one for writing reviews, but feel it's necessary given how much we enjoyed our stay here (and I'm picky). We stayed for a long weekend and couldn't complain about a thing. The rooms were super clean with white crisp sheets and modern touches. The pool + spa area was huge and so well maintained - our kids were at the pool multiple times a day and it was so easy for us given our room was right off the courtyard. The staff was friendly - a nice welcoming environment. I'm a stickler for cleanliness and I can say this place cares about it too. Highly recommend staying here.Rooms: Updated and very clean with white crisp sheets.

We stayed at the Royal Oak (again) last weekend and the hotel continues to be a favorite. The rooms are spacious and the beds are really comfortable. Since we were last there a few years ago, we noticed in our pictures that the rooms had been updated with new carpet and a contemporary color scheme that is really stylish. We also used the pool and the new spa/fire pit area way into the evening. Sitting by the fire in their big adirondack chairs after a day at the beach was an awesome way to end our day; plus, the pool is HUGE and there are plenty of chairs for everyone to soak in the sun. We also made regular use of the fresh brew espresso/latte machine in the lobby on our way to the daily complimentary breakfast, which was a nice way to start our visit every morning. As repeat customers I can say that this hotel continues to get better and better and we look forward to our next visit.Rooms: The rooms are gorgeous and have been updated with new colors and carpeting. It looks like a new place.Walkability: You are within walking distance of a large shopping plaza as well as the Madonna Inn, which is a great place for dinner and dancing.

I have been staying at the Best Western in San Luis Obispo on a regular basis for the past several months. Overall, I have been happy with the hotel and I do recommend it. The rooms are spacious and they are always clean. The furnishings are very comfortable. I have not had any problems with any of the amenities. The location on Madonna Rd. is great; close to the freeway and not far from downtown. When it comes to hotels, the most important aspect to me is the noise level. I will say that the Best Western is much better than most, but from time to time my sleep has been disrupted by inconsiderate guests. The hotel can not do much to stop careless pigs from slamming doors, and it still astounds me just how much noise people can make, on and on and on, just to enter and settle into a room, as if nobody else is around and might be bothered by it. The staff here is the best you will find at any hotel. Everyone has been helpful and it seems like they go out of their way to make me feel welcome.
