Asian American Curriculum Project (AACP, Inc.) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about Asian and Pacific Islander American culture, history, and current experiences. They operate a unique mom-and-pop bookshop that offers a variety of books on Asian American history and culture. In addition to books, the shop sells koinobori (carp for Japanese Children’s Day), chopsticks, and origami paper. It is one of only two stores of its kind in the Bay Area, alongside Eastwind Books in Berkeley, and is run by volunteers.
Harrison was working when I arrived about 20 minutes til closing time, and he was incredibly helpful and friendly! He even kept the shop open about 15 minutes later just to chat about the book shop’s history, recommend books, and discuss other AAPI topics. 10/10 experience!
