About Budget Car Rental
Budget Car Rental offers a range of experiences for customers. Some visitors found the process quick and flawless, especially those who are members of Fastbreak, who could simply walk up, show their ID, and receive the keys in less than a minute. Others, however, experienced long waits and confusion, as signs and directions were not always clear, leading to frustration and waiting times of over 30 minutes. Once assisted, the process often became smooth, and the cars provided were generally in good condition.
Customer service varies by staff. Several reviews highlight outstanding assistance, with employees going above and beyond—helping exchange vehicles, teaching seat adjustments, and providing friendly, family-like treatment. One staff member was described as phenomenal, making a memorable positive impression. Another staff member offered cold bottled water outside during a busy time, showing thoughtfulness for waiting customers.
Some concerns include dirty cars and unexpected charges, such as protection options not requested. Nonetheless, these issues were often resolved efficiently through customer service or the 800 number. The rental process via Costco was noted as easy, and overall, many customers appreciated the courteous and helpful staff, making their rental experience enjoyable despite some frustrations with wait times and vehicle cleanliness.

Susan at the John Wayne airport location was incredibly helpful and great to work with! We were waiting behind 2 others who were taking their sweet time when she came in to start her day and quickly got us into an SUV that we were very happy with. I think we were actually finished before the two we were waiting behind.
