“Loved staying here. We stayed for a single night. The week leading up to our stay we received informational texts that allowed us to communicate with the hotel staff. Check in was easy and the front desk associate was delightful. They allowed us to keep our car parked in the parking lot while we went and had a late lunch before check-in time. We stayed in room 100- its in a tucked away little corner and doesn't have a 'view' but the room was awesome. While it was a small room, it was laid out well and decorated adorable. You can tell they have been more recently renovated. The only funky things in the room (did not affect our stay at all) a light switch that didn't turn any lights or devices on or off, the face plate right inside the door was also not flus with the wall and I could fit my finger squarely behind it, and another ceiling face plate next to the smoke detector was not screwed in all the way and was hanging down a tad. Loved that we had a microwave and mini fridge in the room. Downside, we may have been charged for 2 bottles of water at the front desk- we should have asked, but the business card of information we were given at check-in alluded to being able top get ice and water from the front office. Would definitely stay again.”

“Stayed 3 nights for a family party which was 2 streets down. Very cute boutique hotel charming rooms are older but big. Very accommodating to their guests. I would only mark down for the water pressure in the showers. Very low.”
“Updated and current hotel. I choose Hampton Inns a lot and thus one was at the top. No complaints or need to point anything out. Everything you expect from Hampton Inn.”

“Great place to stay... -The location is central and convenient to both downtown Santa Cruz and the Boardwalk. - The property is quiet with regards to road noise and neighboring rooms. - The price is reasonable. - The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely set up. - The amenities like free wi-fi and cheap parking are appreciated. - The managers are responsive and clear with communications.”
“Why stay anywhere else in Santa Cruz? Best value by far with rooms having almost the same features for nearly half the price (excepting in room coffee service). Coffee served in the lobby until 11am. Swimming pool, restaurants across the street and a reasonably short walk to the Boardwalk.”

“Our room 129 is next to road but you cant hear the noise from outside makes our sleep comfortable. The room is spacious for foot traffic and our luggages. There are plenty of outlets for our gadgets, we dont have to struggle to wait for our turn. There's enough light too. There's tables and chairs for use. It would have been nice to stay longer.”

“Great location, the pool is a little weird as it's across the street and could use a good scrubbing. The grounds need attention. It's clean but clean out the fountain and put flowers in the baskets. Curb appeal is important. The room was clean and comfortable.”
“I realize I'm giving 5 stars to a 2.5 star property, but it's well deserved. We needed a last minute room in Santa Cruz while attending a show at UCSC. Found it on line. We were a little concerned about booking here due to the super low price.
When we arrived, we loved this property's location, ample parking & overall condition. The staff was friendly & professional. We were given an upstairs, large corner room with a King bed.
This property was perfect for what we needed.”

“This is a clean, affordable place to stay while you are in the Santa Cruz area. It is obvious the staff and owners take pride in giving guests a nice experience. Charming. “The reason this Inn gets 5 stars is because of a wonderful man by the name of John. From the very first minute of getting there he made sure to be of upmost service, and it was such a joy getting to know him over the few days we stayed. We are going to miss him.”
“Friendly staff, Room was clean and even thou its an old building the room is nicely updated. Beds were comfy. We enjoyed our ocean view and having a private patio was a plus. It was just the right spot to walk to beach, wharf or boardwalk.”
“This is an average room, but the location is fantastic. The bed was on the firmer side, and only one blanket was provided, but there is AC and heat in the room. Mini fridge and small microwave are provided, but no in-room coffee (luckily Ideal Cafe is just down the block). This is a great option if you aren't looking for an upscale experience and will be happy with a standard hotel room.”

“Lobby, restaurant, bar, pool are is very beautiful and amazing design. Not a fan of the rooms being a former motel vibe. There's a external gate entrance near the pool which makes accessing rooms easier, but also creates and entry for random. One morning the gate was propped open. Dislike that there no extra security check in the elevator with a key swipe. I prefer elevators that require you to swipe key for floors. Also, 1 elevator was broken for 2 days. I wouldn't pay top dollar here, but for under $200 it's a good deal.”

“Usually don’t stay at Super 8’a but this was surprisingly a pleasant stay. The room we had was clean and updated. 2 Blocks to the Boardwalk and everything else is close. Small attention to detail items needed cleaned or updated around the property would make this a Super Duper 8 i.e. pool area, picnic area, lobby and some upkeep landscaping in flower beds.”

“Was shocked to see their rating on yelp so low; then again standards and expectations are different for everyone. With that said found booking cheaper through hotels own website than on booking.com. Booking was simple and quick pay on arrival and room selected was as advertised. Cost was reasonable when looking at comps in area. The hotel is extremely quaint and architecturally beautiful. Upon arrival receptionist Jessica was very friendly, professional & knowledgeable of hotel and surrounding attractions as well as accommodating. She had 2 rooms available under what I reserved, due to having young toddlers I asked if I could see both rooms and she was nice enough to show me both rooms. We decided on room 202 corner queen 2 beds ocean view, not on street level with only one neighbor/room next to us, with shared big patio. Room had modern design, huge shower with nice rain shower head. The stunning view from room is as advertised online; right across from the beach, wharf and boardwalk. & although being right across from beach & tourist attractions noise level wasn't bad at all plus quiet hours were respected by other guest during our stay. Hotel is pet friendly which is always nice. Close to local attractions and numerous restaurants. Overall great experience and hotel stay.”

“Looking for a family friendly hotel that is walking distance from the boardwalk? Free parking which is a plus. Rooms were huge and while it is a family friendly hotel, so expect hearing foot steps and giggles from happy children. Its very quiet after 10pm.”
“Sparkling clean room. Sheets and bedding were crisp, fresh, and white, smelling freshly laundered. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. After returning from the beach and boardwalk each evening, our room and beds were just as spotless and clean as they were when we first arrived. The shower has great water pressure, and the water heats up quickly. The tub is deep enough for a nice, hot bath. Free Wifi with good speed and connection. Using a laptop, 2 phones, and 2 tablets with no problem. Exceptional service. Owners are extremely nice and helpful. Wonderful continental-style breakfast with plenty of choices: waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee, tea, and juice. We stayed 3 nights, and it was very quiet and safe. Quick 2 min. walk to the boardwalk. Will most definitely return.”
“The customer service here is amazing! Denise was very kind and helpful along with the man who works the front desk. The rooms were very clean and something noticable was the water pressure! It was spacious and more than enough for a family of 4. Breakfast had a waffle maker, juices, and smaller things for kids like yogurt etc. This is a good location if you want a more quiet stay away from rollercoaster screams. You can still hear the seagulls and are only a 8 minute drive from the boardwalk! Very accommodating staff and extremely kind I highly recommend this hotel.”
