“I signed up with this medical service offered by Amazon, and I love it. Everything was done from my desk with a zoom call, the communications were excellent, the doctor (you get to pick your own doctor) was the best ever, the follow-up was the best I ever received. I did get a prescription which they called into the pharmacy of my choice, although Amazon could have also had mailed it to me. I love that Amazon One Medical has a phone app which is fantastic to use. This entire experience is a great example on how the medical profession should be. I love it.”

“With several decades of experience, as an impatient patient, I feel qualified to judge the quality of my health care providers. I've also learned that in life one almost always needs to qualify their judgments and opinions, with the phrase, "so far". In my 16 years living in L.A., I had not found a primary care doc who I felt was a keeper. A few months ago I asked a neighbor if he knew of someone and he recommended Dr. Patricia Y. Chang, who practices family medicine at UCLA. Dr. Chang has been at UCLA for around 5 years and practiced in Canada for around 20 years prior. I believe her Canadian training is beneficial to her patients, as Canada seems to be superior, in training physicians to understand and treat the whole person. In the roughly 3 months and 3 visits I've had with Dr. Chang, I am convinced that she is top notch, as a physician, and, no less importantly, as a person. Dr. Chang is extremely knowledgeable, a great listener, responsive (i.e., between visits) and caring. She also understands how all our systems (body and mind) are connected. In listening to my medical history, Dr. Chang identified a relatively rare issue, which no one has ever thought of or explored and very few would. "So far", I expect that Dr. Patricia Y. Chang will be one of the best physicians I have ever consulted.”

I never miss my annual check-up and, over the years, he has helped me numerous times. One example, of many, was the time Dr. Hopper gave me a diagnosis over the phone (based purely on my description of a few symptoms) which subsequent testing proved to be 100% correct. We are lucky that he has chosen not only to practice in our community, but also to be a vibrant part of Santa Monica. In medical matters, as in so much of human endeavor, there is simply no substitute for experience. My doctor has this in great abundance, along with something of equal merit: compassion. “Dr. Michael is definitely a character and there clearly has been some staffing drama over the last year, however, I can say that he is an amazing thorough doctor! He’s been extraordinary with my daughter and myself. Sometimes you do have to wait a long time if it’s not an emergency because he really cares about his patients and sometimes what’s going on behind closed doors is more important than whatever is going on with you while you’re waiting for him to see you. Cut the guy some slack, he’s human and he takes almost all insurance because he cares.”
