“Seems we too often judge lodging facilities solely on their physical aspects, perhaps overlooking their social or personal ones. This is a great place to drop your belongings and cares and just relax. The staff here at Best Western Scotts Valley is top shelf. They gotcha covered.

I travel frequently for my employer so this comes from experience. It’s right off of Hwy 17 and there are restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance.

What more do you need?

Thanks BW SV.

From one more happy customer.”

“An excellent place! The rooms, location, and price - everything is exactly right. It’s a 3-minute walk to the beach. The rooms have everything you need; our family room featured two separate rooms and even a full-sized kitchen. Parking is free. There is also a grill and a swimming pool. Highly recommended!”

“I am very picky about our hotels but this fit our roadtrip budget and after reading the reviews I can’t think of anything wrong with this location. Rooms were clean and spacious provided bathrooms products. Beds were super comfy for someone with back problems I slept like a baby thank you BW! The looked clean the jacuzzi could be a little bit hotter but did the job but the timer should be longer every 30mins was a pain. Breakfast was delicious eggs, sausage and sausage gravy with biscuits, Belgian waffles can’t complain, cottage cheese, fruit nicely, and fresh always cold, always being stocked With plenty of seating even outside to enjoy a nice cool breeze privately would definitely stay here and recommend this location!”

“Our go to spot when we visit Santa Cruz. The rooms are spotless, the beds are super comfortable, the shower is hot and the ac is super cool. The boardwalk is easily walkable along with pacific point for a breakfast burrito or shrine for some delicious coffee. Easy parking in a safe and super convenient location :)”

“Adorable, quaint cottage stay with breakfast delivered to the room. We rented a 2 room cottage that allowed us to bring our dog. While the furnishings could use a bit of a refresh and it takes the hot water time to heat up, it was well accommodated with everything we needed and comfortable beds. The location is beautiful and peaceful and walkable to Capitola shops and restaurants. The Shadowbrook Inn taxi can pick up/drop off for dinner. We can't wait to visit again!”

“I have admired this place from afar for many years, it was such a treat to finally get to stay here! Views and accommodations were immaculate, loved happy hour on the porch, magical view of the boardwalk, and divine bathroom. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Cruz.”

“The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home from the start. They even let us check in early, which was awesome. The place was clean, comfy, and really affordable. I'd definitely stay here again!”

“Absolutely loved our giant room with a king sized bed! The full length private balcony was a very relaxing place to kick back and enjoy the mountain air. The pool and main hall was still under renovation while we were there, but we had a great time just relaxing and enjoying the area. The staff was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay.”

“A lovely hotel, with vaulted ceilings, (upstairs) a small kitchen, with espresso machine, high end toaster, lovely dishes, iron in room, so many little amenities too many to list. Comfortable bed.
The TV is unique!”

“I stay at Hampton all the time when I travel. This one is great (rooms, food, etc).
The only issue is the road noise from the busy Mission/hwy 1. Even with ear plugs the traffic woke me up very early.

Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway.”

“Why stay anywhere else in Santa Cruz? Best value by far with rooms having almost the same features for nearly half the price (excepting in room coffee service). Coffee served in the lobby until 11am. Swimming pool, restaurants across the street and a reasonably short walk to the Boardwalk.”

“Quaint and clean hotel rooms, perfect for our short stay to Santa Cruz. In walking distance to a bunch of breweries, coffee shops, and the beach. Front desk staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful.”

“Attended a wedding here recently and it's a gorgeous place for an outdoor wedding! Staff was very responsive and went above and beyond when the contracted caterer no showed....yup no showed without warning! Sequoia staff found other restaurants to cater the food and they themselves set up and decorated all the tables. Awesome staff, highly recommend!”

“This is a beautiful place! My first time here exceeded expectations. I have stayed at similar lodges before in the area, just like little cabins but these grounds are very very well maintained. The owners lives on the property and takes really good care of the space. We brought firewood, but no worries because there is firewood here. The kitchen was perfect and had a regular sized petite refrigerator. I needed a little get -a-way and this was wonderful! Very quiet and peaceful. I stayed in the Maverick cabin and there was lots of space and many beds if you have friends and family. I will come back 100% and tell my other teachers friends. The owners is very kind!”

“As part of a 12-person golf group, the combination of the Inn at Pasatiempo and Pasatiempo Golf Club was phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The dinner at the Back Nine Bar and Grill was incredible. We will be back.”

“Located conveniently off Highway 1. Rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable. Warm and responsive staff ensure that the hospitality experience is top notch. The area seemed extremely safe but in any case the underground parking of the hotel doubly ensures the safety of your vehicle. All places in Santa Cruz and Capitola are within 15 minutes and not to mention the shopping mall right next to the hotel in case you've forgotten to carry essentials for the trip from home.”

“Best bang for your buck. Walking distance to the boardwalk, good food near it, the rooms are clean. Decent hotel, will book here again if going back to Santa Cruz. Only issues I had is there’s no sound dampening, the cleaner they use on their bedding made me itchy, the fridge froze drinks put into it, and they could’ve provided more shampoo/conditioner. Otherwise, good experience.”

“Just in front of the boardwalk, Carousel Beach Inn is a good place to stay for families. Decent enough place to stay at, though could use a little upgrading. It's nice that it's also within walking distance to downtown as well.”

“A pleasant, clean, and reasonably priced place to stay in Santa Cruz. Not a hotel full of amenities that you end up not using, but if you are looking for a spacious, clean and comfortable room, at a reasonable price, the Hitching Post should be high on your list. My room had a very comfortable king bed, large room, and a second room with a full kitchen. Shower was excellent, and a full walk in closet. All very clean and comfortable.”

“Quiet and tucked away from main freeway. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Bathroom has been renovated to its clean and working well. Staff is efficient and responsive. The only thing lacking is elevator to the second floor. Other than that it’s a good value stay. Plenty of parking and it’s free.”

“This hotel was built by my family (A. Castro) and I have always wanted to see it. I have called a few times but no one answers. I have only been able to visit the outside of the building because the hotel has been closed every time I try to see it. I truly hope it does get restored, but sounds like that’s going to require a lot of time and money. Grants, perhaps? ?I would love to chat with the current owners sometime!”

“Have stayed here many times. The staff is friendly and the hotel is maintained very well. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the whole hotel smells good! The pool and hot tub are enjoyable as well, and we also like the free breakfast.”

“Only giving it 4 stars because it's in a bit of a dodgy area. Otherwise it's very clean, the rooms were perfectly fine, although we did hear the traffic at night - but we had ear plugs so it didn't worry us. The chap who checked us in told us it was actually the smallest Hampton Inn in the USA. Some of the lower rooms do open up pretty much right into the breakfast area, so I imagine they could cop a bit of noise.”

“A great choice for families. My husband and I traveled to Santa Cruz with our 10 month old for the first time in June for Father's Day weekend. The fridge and microwave was so useful for us. Lots of storage space in the drawers and closet as well. About a 5 minute drive or 15 min walk to to the wharf and boardwalk. So close to all that's happening but just far enough fo it to be quiet and enjoy a good night's rest. Free breakfast is also very convenient. Only issue I have is that the blankets are too thin for my preference and the bathroom counter space is too small. The price was worth it too us, no extra frills, clean and updated. Would definitely recommend this place”

“Next to a bunch of wide, high speed roads with heavy vehicular traffic. So the noise level is high and feels pretty unwelcome to walk from. However, this is definitely factored into the price as everything else about the motel is much better than the extremely low price normally gets.”

“Love how the boardwalk was walkable and the pier also. The room was great no complaints, but walls are thin. Great staff. You can check in early to get your parking pass early. Would book again here :)”

“This is a clean, affordable place to stay while you are in the Santa Cruz area. It is obvious the staff and owners take pride in giving guests a nice experience. Charming. Coffee, bath essentials, airy rooms all provided. I had a small fridge and iron, blow dryer. Other small thoughtful items included. Definitely will return.Rooms: Clean, lots of extra touchesNearby activities: Central to all Monterey Bay sights and attractions.Safety: Felt very safe for myself and my car.Walkability: Easy walk to harbor”

“Really reasonably priced motel for whatnot has to offer. I enjoyed my suite with fireplace and jacuzzi tub for only 195 in the summer! When other places were charging 3-400 for just a regular room!”

“The reason this Inn gets 5 stars is because of a wonderful man by the name of John. From the very first minute of getting there he made sure to be of upmost service, and it was such a joy getting to know him over the few days we stayed. We are going to miss him.”
