“EL MONTE TRANSMISSION! They are honest, professional, and overall great place to get trans work done. I had my gmc Sierra towed from lake Elsinore! That's how much trust this shop. The owner is great, and any questions that I have about my transmission he was able to answer, and actually show me after he drop the transplant how many metal shavings were in the actual pan. He explained out basically my transmission is going out it's gonna need to be repaired... he recommended that but either way he wasn't trying to be pushy salesman. “They saved me from $$$$ in repairs. I had them inspect a used vehicle I was going to purchase. I don't know much about cars so I thought it would be a good idea to get a full inspection to make sure I'm investing my money in something that will last me a while. They were very thorough with their report, turns out the car had a ton of problems with it that would've required thousands in repairs. I'm so grateful that I went to L&T to go it inspected first. They were also very quick and it took less than an hour! Thank you so much guys, I will be coming back as the search for a car continues!”

“I was seeking preventive maintenance on 1982 MBZ diesel. I called ahead to screen the place and was given a reasonable price accompanied by courteous attitude. We set an appointment at which time I was greeted and the work commenced. Two man shop; they just do transmissions. They drained old oil, dropped the pan, inspected and showed me a sizable crack in the seal gasket, which explained the underfilled reservoir. No metal shavings. They installed new gasket and a new filter. They did not try to sell me anything extra, they explained every finding, and they stuck to the originally quoted price told to me in my screening phone call. Pleasant experience. I recommend highly.”

“Boss: It makes sense for a car repair shop to be so big based solely on character. You'll know it as soon as you drive in. There are so many parking spaces and no one is available. The boss speaks English Spanish. AAA members can check the condition of their cars for free. Master Alfonso was very careful and helped me check for free. Told me there was no need to change the oil right away. Not a cent was charged. When I already said I wanted to spend the time adjusting the gearbox. The master still said everything was normal. no need. Character is the foundation of business. After all, many car dealers are eager to take various photos for you and let you change this or that. One of the few conscientious car repair shops in the Walnut Luolangang area. The AAA contract specifies vehicle repair. Recommended.”
“This mechanic worked on my 2006 Toyota 4runner v8 Limited. I came in with knowing what the issue was with my vehicle and they diagnosed it to be exactly what I though(aka they are truthful). They replaced multiple valves and other pieces. They use only OEM parts and guarantee there work. They aren't as cheap as other mechanics but they are defiantly worth the wait and price! Unfortunately I need some work on my vehicle and had to cancel my appointment due to funds but I still Recommend 10/10”

“The first vehicle I brought to S&J was an old Aerostar. It'd overheat; Csaba sniffed the antifreeze and diagnosed it in seconds: a clogged radiator. (My fault; I used outdated anti-freeze.) That was in 1998 when he had a shop in Altadena. I've brought him every car and van ever since. Csaba (pronounced cha-bah) is a hard to find, old-school mechanic -- solid, trustworthy, and he knows what he's doing. He's been polite (to me and my wife, and those I've referred) and patient through my never-ending dumb questions, all without rolling his eyes. He's come through on every of our Prius ans Subaru repairs and regular service -- brakes, oil changes, shocks, fan clutch, radiator flush (it's endless) -- as well keeping our ancient 24 year-old, hard-to-fix Dodge camper-van RV on the road. Fast forward to July 2023: While traveling to the Dakotas, the RV's water pump was replaced. On the drive home, there was anti-freeze on the ground. An out of state mechanic said maybe a head gasket, freeze plug, or worse, a cracked engine block. Back home, Csaba fixed it in a day with something simple -- a new hose. I've been coming back to Csaba all these years -- and keep going back -- because he knows how to diagnose a problem quickly, has been fair in his pricing (no shop fees!) and honest (he's straightforward and tells me what I don't need). It's almost as good as having a mechanic in the family.”
