Our HOA couldn’t get a contractor to fix our broken gate. I drove to the Sonoma store the owner took the time to show me the basics of how to solve the problem. I usually don’t leave comments, but I was impressed with how Josh provided enough DIY insight to help our association solve a lingering problem for less than a tenth of what contractors wanted (if they would ever would even come out).

Seldom, am I completely satisfied with an online purchase. The gate system that I received from Gate Depot exceeded my expectations for quality of workmanship, speed of shipment, packaging, customer service and every other definable issue. First class operation, do not hesitate to do business with this company.

This could have easily been a 4 or 5 star review. The gate itself is decent quality, but the customer service is not. I ordered a "hinge" side gate, had my concrete guy pick it up and put it in the ground. I then picked up my gate a week or so later. Went to install the gate and realized there was no holes to screw in the hinge hardware. Not the biggest deal in the world as I went out and bought the hardware needed to drill and "through bolt" the hinge brackets on. Was about 2-3 hours of labor and $60 in parts so I'm out around $180-200 ($21 gate price difference + $60 parts + ~$100 labor). So $200 isn't the end of the world. We were planning on buying a garden gate from them anyways so I called to see if we could make this all right. I had gotten a quote for a clearance gate a while ago for about $135 which is what anyone walking into the store would pay for that clearance gate. I gave Josh numerous opportunities over the phone and it would have been so easy to be like "Yeah I see we messed up and it cost you money to fix our mistake so I can comp you this $135 gate." Because, you know, failed actions has consequences. If Josh had gone that route I'd be writing a different review right now. Instead, what I got was "It's not my fault you didn't check the post for holes before you cemented it to the ground." True enough, I admitted as not doing QA on their failure to get an order of 1 post correct, my bad. Josh was totally within his right to not comp that gate. No one wants to lose money for their business but now instead of recommending people to gate depot I will let them know to avoid it. That $135 garden gate probably lost them more than they'll realize. That's how customer service works.

Terrible customer service. Josh the gm is very unprofessional, has a horrible attitude is unpleasant to speak with. They do not care what happens with your order after it's placed. I would not advise ordering from them.

My experience with Gate Depot has been a very positive one. The gate system I bought appears to be decent quality at a very fair price. Customer service (shout out to Josh in particular) is stellar! All questions, concerns and the few minor issues I had were addressed promptly and to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company, for any DIYer that wants a good product at a fraction of the cost of a professional install. Keep up the great service!

Josh - hero! I took on a gate project never having done one before. We’ve built columns, mechanicals and controls on other projects but never a gate. Josh was there whenever I needed help. Customer service par excellence! I’m sure he rolled his eyes a few times but he was always patient and helpful and I’ve appreciated his thorough knowledge of the products and installation. Don’t miss this company if you’re a pro or a DIY person...great company and great service.

I ordered an item, they sent the wrong item. They refused to refund until I shipped at my expense the item they sent me. The cost of shipping exceeded the value of the item they sent. I sent them an email and they responded that shipping is expensive. I had to call my bank.

So far our company has nothing but issues with the gate and accessories that we were sold. The service tech once told us that we knew more than they did when trying to get help with installing the gate. We were sent 2 boxes which apparently was not correct. One of the service techs we spoke to mentioned we had the wrong book.After 3 months we finally got the gate to work with the help of an outside source. Some of the parts that were sold to us, don't even work with our gate, and one of the techs we spoke to after the purchase said that it would not work. I have been trying to get someone to contact me back and have received no such calls. I would not recommend GATE DEPOT.

Was going to Ordered some post from Gate Depo for my gate, except they called back and hit me with a $500 delivery freight charge. Made me upset, because when I ordered online, they never mentioned it. So instead I made my own post for the gate and saved 60% of the cost. I guess I'm happy I didn't go the Gate Depot route!! Thanks
