“As a longtime Williams-Sonoma fan, it was such a treat to visit the very first store Chuck Williams opened in Sonoma in 1956—especially during the company’s 70th anniversary celebration.

What makes this flagship location so special is that Chuck Williams’ original Sonoma residence has been preserved right next door, featuring photographs, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia that beautifully tell the story of the brand’s beginnings. There’s also a lovely outdoor culinary space to explore.

We spent far longer here than expected, doing exactly what one does in a Williams-Sonoma store: discovering things you never knew you needed but suddenly can’t live without. I was especially drawn to the bee and honeycomb collection. Although I managed to exercise some restraint in the store, I couldn’t stop thinking about the jeweled bee napkin rings and honeycomb pillow covers—and promptly ordered them once we got home.

If you love to cook, bake, entertain, or simply surround yourself with beautiful things for your home, this historically significant store is a must-see when visiting Sonoma.”
