Multiple rude interactions with employees/managers. Recently had a really displeasing interaction where I was basically talked down to in a very disrespectful manor for making a simple mistake.

I'm sorry. Customer service was so nice in the bakery but the cake was awful. You could barely see the raspberry filling. It was maybe the size of 1/2 my baby fingernail. Just awful. This was my first time trying this bakery and I will never return. Sorry.

First off before you even enter the store you have to hope you can enter the parking lot without getting your car dinged. Stock boys were hard at it but taking up the entire aisle with no regard to the shoppers. After navigating all that and hopefully you're able to find what you need you face the checkout line. The checkers were fine but one is faced with trying to make room for all the customers slowly moving down the one area to leave. I think the most maddening part of my shopping experience was seeing all the congestion and 2 female managers just standing there in the middle of it all . Doing nothing to possibly facilitate the the chaos. They just stared at us all.

Avoid the nasty woman who works at checkout #1. Every time I've ever asked her any question (the last time was about how the Safeway Mobile App works), she has been really rude. Her line was completely empty and she was standing there doing nothing. She acts like it is just an incredible effort to answer basic questions. Why work at a job dealing with the public if you hate people so much?

Great service by Joe in the deli. We're close too closing and he made us a quick sandwich. Very friendly. We're from out of town and we're tired and ready to get back to our Airbnb for the night. Thx Joe!

I like coming to Safeway. It's always busy but I appreciate the excellent customer service and my favorite place to buy flowers. If you ask the ladies to make a flower bouquet, they always do a fantastic job.

A lot of empty shelves. Employees not very knowledgeable. Asked the "butcher" a question and he shrugged and walked away. More and more I am preferring to go to Trader Joe's (although it is a trek to Napa!). Wont return. Reply to Dawn M of Safeway: I appreciate your response to my review today, but Sonoma Safeway has A LOT of negative reviews regarding a myriad of issues. "Passing on reviews to upper management" does nothing to solve the problems this store is experiencing. Management needs to set priorities (the customer!), devise protocol and train management. Period.

The "racist Safeway store" I have ever shopped at. I never had a bad experience with any other Safeway. I used to work at Westlake, California Safeway for three years from 2012 to 2015 as a cashier when I was a college student. So, I had knowledge about Safeway's policies. I went to this Safeway to return my groceries, which were 3 baby juice pouches, a few snack pack vanilla puddings, and 2 teether wafers, around 8:20 pm on August 2nd. I bought these items on July 28th,2022. They all were in good condition and had a receipt. However, the caucasian guy with long hair who works in customer service and the Caucasian lady who is seen as a check stand manager didn't accept my return items. She gave me a few reasons. The first reason was that "those are perishable items and they cannot accept for return". (even tho those items are not perishable) When I told her "those are not and they are from the regular shelf", she gave me another reason "oh you need to return those items within "36 hours", but I will let you return only two teether wafers". Either she was lying to me or doesn't know Safeway store's return policies well even though she's a check-stand "manager". The guy from the customer service and she looked at me like "a naive Asian" who doesn't know anything. I still remember their look on me. However, I left and double-checked Safeway's return policy online because I need to fight for my rights. It said "-Customers can return or exchange most items at Safeway as long as they have the proof of purchase and return the items to the store. -Returning both perishable and non-perishable products to Safeway is possible. -All store merchandise, except liquor and infant formula, is returnable or exchangeable" So I went inside the store again and talked with the store manager. I explained to her about the store return policy and the situation. The store manager asked the check-stand manager for the reason. The check stand manager told her that "it was because of baby's juice pouches and snack pack pudding". And then the store manager told her, customer can return any baby's food except baby formula" Safeway needs to train its employees about microaggression and Safeway's policy. if you shop at Safeway, you make sure how to fight for your rights. Don't let them treat you like you don't know anything, especially because of your skin color, Race, and accent..

When it comes to stocks and inventory, excellent.. Other staff on the floor, excellent BUT the bagger? She was the one with some patches on her arms for I guess medical patch for monitoring sugar, she just threw all of my groceries in each plastic bag.. Imagine putting laundry detergent with a deli, cold frozen ice cream with bread (it sogs my bread), and some frozen meat with hot food from deli (tenders), and toothpaste with food, produce with dog food, I mean, as a bagger this is actually common sense, you don't need training to know this.. And the worst part was she was just throwing it in a bag like if the groceries have life, it would cry out foul!! Is that how she treats her own groceries? All my salads are crashed and my herbs as well, my strawberries and blackberries container were dented because you don't put heavy stuff over it... She actually doubled my job by re-bagging it.. The older gentleman behind me was actually looking at her too on how she bagged my groceries... If she has some anxiety, she should not be dealing with customers, she should be at the back of the house dealing with stocks so she doesn't need to show off some foul behavior... This happened July18, 2022 mid afternoon

Not the most pleasant shopping experience that's for sure. I decided to go light inside of this location. Only grab a few things and hopefully leave a positive review for a Safeway location for once. Didn't happen. The thing with not having set sizes when ordering items leaves a lot open to interpretation which in turn leads to whatever prejudice's the person may or may not have. In this instance it was underfeeding. I asked for an item from the deli that was roughly the size of a white castle hamburger yet I am guessing I would of still had to of paid full price. Thanks but no thanks even though Sonoma is pretty far out of the way I won't return to this location again. Overall this place is NOT a great place to go if you're of African decent. I would definitely avoid this place. There are a lot alternative dining establishments in Sonoma and if you're just visiting I would suggest just keep driving instead of stopping at this location. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area...However! I write these reviews based on my experience so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. But always do your own research!

Management at this store really needs to be taught a lesson in running a store and treating its employees with respect. I think his name was TJ and he helped me out to my car because I had a broken leg and it makes it hard to get around. I came back again later and he was collecting carts in the parking lot so I stopped to thank him again and some lady who ended up being his manager started yelling at him to get back to work. I hope your other managers don't treat your other staff like dogs like she did to TJ. 5 stars for TJ and 0 stars for management.

Well, it's just like other massive supermarkets, in that they have fifty different brands of one thing to choose from, but they don't have ANY of the one thing you need, and the clerk who is responsible for that section has never heard of the one thing you need. Safeway's "deli" doesn't smell as bad as Lucky's, but they, too, have a very limited selection of produce (why do their produce clerks INSIST that any "yellow" potato is the same as a "Yukon gold" potato?!) ... anyway. Another of their favorite tricks in the produce department is to package food in large quantities that can't be used up before it spoils--- they ONLY sell plastic bags of six or eight Persian cucumbers, or a styrofoam plate with two pounds of asparagus on it... Safeway has better meat selection than Lucky, although that's not saying much, and, like Lucky, very little edible bread, although they have table after table piled with their own "baked goods," of which I will not speak, in order to keep a civil tongue in my head. But keeping a civil tongue is hard to do, when you are mad that they don't have rice vermicelli noodles, even though they have every other kind of noodles under the sun ... so I asked a clerk if I could speak to a manager. (Call me all kinda Karens. I don't care. I am a squeaky wheel.) I SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO BE SUCH A B***** SORRY.

4/22/22 6:42am I had my first unpleasant shopping experience today at Safeway. I had just gotten off of work after a graveyard shift and wanted to run into Safeway where I normally shop for my produce and have been since 2017. I noticed as I was shopping that I'm starting to pick up things that I actually didn't come in the store for and I just so happened to see a cart in the aisle but it had a scanner and some paperwork in it. I took it upon myself to place the scanner and paperwork on a pile of paper towels because I really needed the card. Christina GM Head decided to shout out "Hey! Can you put that stuff back." I said sure and placed everything back and told her I just needed a basket for my items. She coldly said "Okay" with no offer of grabbing me a basket to help. So as I made my way to the register I bumped into Kellie who I shared my experience with. I told her I had just gotten off of work and all I wanted to do was grab a couple of items and that Christina was so rude about not even offering to help me. Even with me telling Kellie that I was already in line and didn't need a basket she still took the initiative to grab one for me and then went above and beyond to open up a register as an apology for my experience. Kellie turned my bad experience into a pleasant one and I really appreciate her coming to my rescue. Christina on the other hand might need a course on how to interact with customers in a positive way.

I made an appointment online to get a flu shot at the pharmacy. When I arrived, I was told that no Safeway in Northern California has any flu vaccines. True? I don't know, but I'm not going to waste any more time with this pharmacy. Edit: The appropriate action is reconsidering the contract you have with whoever provides your pharmacy services. Because either staff is lying and dysfunctional, or the appointment system is grossly dysfunctional.

The male pharmacist here is pretty unhelpfu/angry, I had an appointment for a vaccine and he tried to pressure me into a different vaccine but wouldn't or couldn't answer my questions about why I needed that one instead of the one I wanted. I was following the guidelines on Safeway's very own website! He started getting weird and kinda rude at, what I thought were really reasonable questions. I didn't even use a demanding tone with him, just asked for clarification and it was like he was getting angry about it, so I just left without the vaccines. I wouldn't come to the pharmacy again.
