We moved to the area recently in search of a vet. Many weren't accepting new patients but this vet was. It was a routine check up and our dogs first time being there and meeting this vet. He barely acknowledged her, let alone said hi. He did manage to say "she has an attitude" when she was getting her shot. I'd honestly be a little annoyed to if a random guy came into a room and shoved a needle in my neck without acknowledging me but hey, that's just me. He also commented on her teeth having gingivitis but gave no solution until my husband had to ask him again and he just said "give her some dentastix". We will be in search of a new vet - hopefully one that respects and cares about dogs and their owners. TIP - go to yelp reviews for some interesting reviews on this place. Wish we'd known before.

Shortly after arriving in Sonoma, Mollie started having serious allergy issues. It was nice to get a relatively quick appointment and be treated with such care. Mollies issues were quickly resolved.

If I could give the “Vet” here 0 stars, I would. My dog had blood in his stool, as any pet owner would be, I was extremely concerned and worried about my dogs health. I made an appointment and brought a sample for them to examine beforehand. Upon arrival to the appt he was not careful with my dog at all. And after a 5 minute consultation, sent me home with probiotics and antibiotics. After I mentioned that I had done research through multiple reliable sources, and that I was concerned with it being something more serious, he proceeded with saying “yeah, he (my dog) could be dying right now” and to “not believe everything I read online and that’s Google for me.” I was appalled and furious that a “care giver” would give such a blatantly disrespectful comment regarding my dogs health and questioning my knowledge or lack thereof. This man should not be a vet and I suggest you take your pets somewhere else. His methods and clinic are outdated, his services are subpar and his empathy and simple human connection skills are the worst I’ve seen in a health service provider. Save yourself time, money, and negative emotions by not going here. I will never be back.

We had our appointment at 3:30pm today. We checked in and then waited and waited as they took other dogs in. We finally got up and left, I called them when we got hope only to be told they were backed up. I asked why they didn't tell us instead of just ignoring us. The technicians just walked past us attending to other dogs. I will never take my dog to the Sonoma Animal Hospital again. I give it 0 stars. June Gardner

We transferred our cat care to Dr. Sleep because our usual Sonoma vet was never available unless you could schedule a month in advance, and he came recommended by a neighbor. To be fair, our first encounter with this facility was for kidney failure/end of life issues in a 20 year old cat. The staff and Dr. Sleep could not have been better at handling this situation, for which we're still grateful. We also love their daily vaccination/nail trim clinic...so sensible and convenient. Now the bad part. We brought home a 6 month old kitten from a local shelter as a companion for our 8 year old cat, who had been indoor only for at least 7 years, with no skin issues. About a month after their introduction, our adult cat developed a rashy, swollen area with hair loss between his eyelid and ear. First visit to Dr. Sleep was diagnosed as a "classic case of ear mites". Communication is always through vet techs who bring the pets in and out from your car, never directly with Dr. Sleep. We were told our cat got an anti-mite treatment and a steroid injection, and sent home with an anti-mite treatment to be given at home one week later, and a steroid ointment to apply twice daily. Over the next week, our adult cat's condition started looking worse, so we brought him and the kitten in for a mite check. We were told our adult cat got another mite treatment and steroid injection, but since the kitten had no symptoms of mites, no treatment was given to him. The vet tech then suggested our adult cat's issues might be a litter allergy. What?! Is it an allergy or mites? I asked if Dr. Sleep had actually tested for mites. She didn't know, so I asked to speak with Dr. Sleep. His response: "They're microscopic. I would have to look under his skin to see them. You're overthinking this." We were sent home with instructions to give the anti-mite treatment one week later at home. Our adult cat's condition still worsened the next couple of days, so we took him to a Petaluma clinic for second opinion. They did two tests for mites which were negative. They also tested for ringworm, a fungal infection that's a problem in shelters, which was positive. So the anti-mite medication was useless, and incredibly the steroid injections Dr. Sleep gave our adult cat actually made his condition worse by suppressing his immune system. They diagnose without testing here. Never going back.

My dogs have been going here for a few months now and the staff is amazing. I love the way Dr Sleep will come out to the car to let you know what he found and explain treatment and answer any questions. My boy whiskey loves going there. No fear or hesitation, he must know he's gonna be treated well. Thank you Dr Sleep and staff for all you do for my babies.

My family has used this trusted veterinary clinic for years. I was calling around wondering about parvo and how long a puppy should avoid public parks. One office I called told me to google it. Sonoma Animal hospital took there time with my call and was very detailed in there answer. Thank you so much to the staff there! They’re such a blessing! They really know there animals!
