I was very displeased with the service and lack of care/compassion for my pet. When I went there the first time for swelling and discharge from my cats eye they gave me otc lysine that did nothing. Then when I confronted them after a month of no resolve they only offered to give him more lysine. Which didn't help anyways! They took the easy way out and offered no better solution or reevaluation of my pets condition. I AM SWITCHING VETS! For those who don't know you need records of the pets previous veterinary visits/diagnosis/medications for your new vet to be on the same page. The receptionist "Cathy" was rude and unprofessional. She refused to release my pets records to me after asking multiple times. She wouldn't even look up the name I gave her. I had to offer other ways and asked to be looked up by phone number or my pets DOB. Which I know she didn't look up because she gave me an immediate response of "Nope never heard the name or pets name." She's never HEARD of my pet or the last name I gave her. She was incredibly short and irritable when asked any question in regards to my pet. I know for a FACT this is the pet hospital I went to...I was there to bring my cat to his appointment but I guess I'm crazy. I will NOT be back and I would NOT recommend this place ever. Please hire someone more professional than "Cathy" because I will NOT be treated like garbage when asking simple questions about MY pet.

This review is meant for anyone in need of an avian vet. Unfortunately in my opinion the negative outweighs the positive for avian services only, I'm sure the positive reviews for other pet services are correct. We have taken our macaw in to Dr. Rosner twice and both times he has been unable to identify the type of bird we have and has confused her for a conure or a different type of bird. The second time we took our bird in, only a beak and nail trim were request but in addition to the beak and nail trim (which was subpar) we ended up being charged for an initial visit charge, maybe due to unorganized paper filing? The staff is friendly and it's clear they love all the animals they see. I'm sure the services for other pets are great, but we do not plan to return for our bird's services.

I don't know how Dr. Rosner keeps his business going with such rude and unprofessional employees. In all of my years, I've never been treated so badly. I sincerely believe Sonoma Veterinary Clinic employees hate their jobs. I wonder if Dr. Rosner is oblivious to their behavior, or maybe he just doesn't care. This makes me worry regarding how they treat and handle my animals. Additionally, his employees don't correctly relay information to him (or the other veterinarian), therefore serious communications problems have occurred. I like Dr. Rosner and believe he's a great veterinarian. However, my most recent experience with his staff was the final straw. They have horrifically bad communication. His office manager is the worst. I'm taking my 2 dogs to a different veterinarian whose staff are polite and professional, and where I don't have to worry about my animals' treatment by his staff. Dr. Rosner, please wake up!

Took our new puppy to the vet for her first puppy visit. Everyone was very friendly. You stay in the car they come get your pup and then the doctor calls. Dr. Rosner was super friendly, knowledgeable and explained everything so well. He also gave me lots of great tips about everything our puppy will need and why it's important. Great tips about what to feed her and how to train her. I'm very happy with our new vet

Yesterday while filing down our senior cockatiel's toenails he got squirmy and accidentally got nicked. Managed to get the bleeding stopped but last night it started again. I started calling vet after vet all the way down to San Francisco no one could see him or they didn't see birds. Started calling around this morning. One vet clinic emailed me a list of potential vets to call but half of them said they saw birds when they didn't. Finally got to Sonoma Vet Clinic on the list and by that time we were frustrated and this was our last hope. The receptionist put us on the phone with Dr Rosner and he was able to squeeze us in today! Hooray! We live in Santa Rosa so it was an hour drive. They took our Alfalfa in, put silver nitrate on his wound and gave him some antibiotics to prevent infection, and sent him home with extra padding for the bottom of his cage. We are so grateful to Dr Rosner to taking care of our little guy! He was the only vet we could get a hold of that took care of birds and could see him today. Thank you Dr Rosner and nurse Sabrina for everything!

We took our dog in for a checkup during Covid and the staff and Dr Rosner were knowledgeable and very helpful. A few days later our dog got a foxtail in his nose and the staff was able to fit us in to remove it. Great experience and care!

TLDR: They gave me wrong info multiple times including reading me the wrong cat's blood test. They didn't listen when I said my cat was reacting badly to the med; they told me the meds didn't have side effects which resulted in taking my cat Yoko to an emergency vet. It ends up she's allergic to the med, was on double what she needed & it exacerbated her kidneys to a dangerous point. She was in a tremendous amount of pain & vomiting like I've never seen. I called the office to tell them about this. Cathy denied much of what she'd said & refused to address any of the egregious errors made. I was grateful I got my cat in to see any vet since they're slammed. Now I know why he had space. Yoko was losing weight rapidly. Rosner said the last blood test from my old vet months ago showed a mass infection & renal failure. I said that didn't sound right as she'd be dead by now. He insisted he was right, then realized he'd been reading me the wrong cat's results. Bad mistake, but since he had high reviews & I was desperate, I chalked it up to just being human & moved on. He did a new blood test. Half of it came back quick. Rosner suspected hyperthyroidism, but needed the other half which took over a week. While waiting, Yoko got dangerously thin. I insisted that something had to be done. He prescribed methimazole pills (hyperthyroid meds) & told me to use pill pockets. I did vet tech work for a bit- Cats won't do pill pockets. It's hell to pill cats, but I can do it. Days later, I'd just missed a call from them. I called right back & Cathy answered. The first thing she said was, "Well you're too late!" She said I'd have to get Yoko spayed another day. You can't spade an already spade cat. She realized her mistake but continued to be rude, interrupt me often & didn't answer my questions. After over a week of waiting with Yoko throwing up & acting sick, a receptionist called & said the other half of the test was fine. I asked about Rosner's hyperthyroidism suspicion. She was demeaning & reiterated the tests were fine, even defining for me what the word "fine" means. Rosner calls later saying the 2nd half of the tests came back showing hyperthyroidism & to put her on two pills a day instead of one. Yoko's reactions got worse. I called. Cathy said cats never have reactions to methimazole. Seriously? Every med has possible side effects. She said to try the liquid form because Yoko's likely throwing up due to stress from being pilled. Cathy kept reassuring me Yoko wasn't having a reaction & said if I stopped the meds, Yoko would go into a "thyroid storm." She didn't explain what that was, but it sounded scary. The receptionist said the liquid was $101. I'm shocked they didn't warn me, but I'm desperate. The receipt was for $171. They say I misheard, but given their pattern, I'm sure it was them. After a 2-3 days on liquid meds, Yoko threw up all morning into mid afternoon. Her eyelids & face were swollen. Scratching hard at her face. Yowling like I'd never heard her before. I took off to TruVet in Petaluma. I was right. Rosner screwed up big. At TruVet, Yoko saw Dr. India Macavoy. Turns out allergies to methimazole are common in cats & that's what Yoko was going through. Worse yet, she was on much too high a dose & it had aggravated her kidneys, which was why she was puking, dehydrated & very constipated. She would've died had I kept up with Rosner's treatment. Having thyroid issues, I can tell you a doc would NEVER start treatment w/a high dose. It is COMMON PRACTICE to start with a lesser dose because extreme high/low levels of thyroid hormones can be dangerous. Dr. M said it is common practice to use a transdermal (gel absorbed thru the skin) version of this med as everyone knows that pilling a cat is wild. Also safe for me if I use gloves. I called Rosner's. Cathy denied the

My husband and I have taken our animals to Dr. Rosner for many years. We like Dr. Rosner and would like him to continue treating our animals. For the most part, his staff have been pleasant. Unfortunately, Kathy his office manager is consistently rude, aggressive, and inappropriately and unnecessarily argumentative. We witnessed her being bossy and rude to the other employees as well. When I've called the clinic, I've dreaded it when she answers the phone. Our simplest questions will receive a seemingly angry response. Because of her, we are considering finding another veterinarian. We have kept giving Sonoma Veterinary Clinic second chances, however, our last visit a few months ago will probably be the last.

Dr. Rosner & his staff are AWESOME!~We woke up to our 2 year old lab yelping and shaking with no idea what was wrong. Dr. Rosner immediately took her in and saw her for our emergency. He and his staff quickly made our baby girl comfortable and figured out what was wrong. They took excellent care of our Shaddow and her tail is now wagging happily as she is getting back to normal and we are thrilled and relieved.Dr. Rosner is extremely knowledgeable and truly loves being a Vet.
