“What a lovely, helpful, friendly Bookshop. Amazing variety and lovely books. Just how a Bookshop should be, your missing out if you use Amazon on this personal experience.”
“walked in thinking it’d be a quick stop for one gift but ended up spending almost an hour in the cozy back corners. the staff member near the poetry section noticed I was lost and actually asked what I was looking for instead of just nodding past me which was a nice change. found this amazing collection of poetry books I wouldnt have seen in a big store its definately my new spot for grabbing gifts for freinds. the place has an open, quiet energy that just feels different than other stores, kind of like everyone inside is on the same wavelength. didn't get rushed out even when they were busy which is rare these days. grabbed a couple things for myself to because they had a small display of local journals and I couldn’t resist the hand drawn cover im a sucker for that kind of detail. I will absolutly be coming back next time im in town”
“The energy you get when you walk in the door. The people you encounter from the staff to the customers. The selection of books for kids and adults, all just amazing. ??♥️”
“I just discovered this place. I love it! They have a good selection of classic literature. I've gone back twice in less than a week. Prices for paper back are very reasonable. Hardcovers are a bit more expensive but they are in really good condition. The staff is very kind and helpful.”
“Book lovers, collectors, definitely a great place to visit, feels like your inside a different spacetime. You ate able to enjoy the great arquitecture and creativity. If you are visiting LA, recommend yo visit this bookstore. Take your picture in the light book tunnel to capture a memory.”
“Zina is always helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. She takes the time to answer questions and even wraps my books, which I really appreciate. Great customer service and one of the reasons I enjoy coming back to this bookstore.”
“This book store is like a treasure hunt, it's a great place to spend a long time digging through each shelf. Every aisle is piled from floor to ceiling with books, many of which are older editions or out of print pulp. I found nice quality collections of both Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler novels when I was in this week, which are going to be very welcome additions to my home library.
They also have a cabinet of signed books behind the counter. Great place to spend an afternoon with reasonable prices.”
“Absolutely wonderful bookstore - I live in Australia, so have only had the privilege of shopping online with them, but even from just one experience (my first, but certainly won't be my last) I can highly commend and recommend them.
I ordered a book as a Christmas gift for my uncle, and this particular book is apparently now out of print, and one of the last copies of the English version out there - and it got lost somewhere in Canada on its way to me in Australia.
It was missing for over a month, and all seemed lost - truly sad if one of the last copies of this book was to be lost in transit, never to be seen again. But Arno from Abril was tenacious in tracking it down; he opening multiple investigations with the carrier and followed up again and again over the course of months to try to get to the bottom of the mystery - and lo and behold, it was found almost two months later, somewhere in the depths of the carrier's Canadian depot, and reshipped, where it finally arrived in my hands, just yesterday.
From the other side of the world I was pretty powerless to do much, and from my experiences with other online retailers in the past, I never expected so much genuine care and dedication from Abril themselves in helping this book find its way to me. But that's what I got - that's what Arno delivered, along with this book.
The bookstore itself has the best collection of Armenian books, both in Armenian and English, out there that I've found, and their staff are dedicated and truly care about both their books and their customers in equal measure.”
“One of our favorite shops in LA. Wacko is the perfect gift store. From kitsch apron to esoteric books, from mushroom designed lamps to silicon finger puppet, weird socks and so much more, be prepared to spend quite some time in there checking all the amazing stuffs they have!”
“There's something for everyone. I really enjoyed walking through the before. I will say a majority is anime. The prices are decent. Located at the Weller Court in DTLA. If you need a gift for a person who loves anime, then this is the place. They also have plushies, posters, magnets, cards, Hello Kitty items, and stationery stuff.”
“An awesome art gallery! I love that there’s always something new rotating in. I was especially glad to catch the Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake exhibit. It’s also very cool that you can buy artwork made by local artists such a great way to support a community!”
“I'm a huge bibliophile! I don't think I've ever walked past an open bookstore without stopping and yesterday was no different. We walked into the well lit, colourful, and charming space and were immediately greeted by the staff of three and a cute shop kitty named, Pippie. Because of a shirt I was wearing we all began talking about our favourite horror movies.
The shop was setup perfectly with great displays for kids and adults, puzzle lovers, those of us who love a knick-knack, and their Pride display was front and center.
We walked around each area searching the shelves; I was not about to leave the store without purchasing something. Found the third book in a trilogy I've been waiting for.
We chatted while longer with the personable staff and then walked out with our purchases.
Thank you for the warm welcome and beautiful shop!”
“This place is DANGERIOUS! ? you will walk in and come out with unexpected items you didn't intention at all!!! Really nice layouts for presentations and also just the qualities of the products are phenomenal! ❤️ LOVE this store ?”
“This location has 3 stories, so I would assume you're able to find something you're interested in given your interest isn't too niche. Staff are hospitable. Must make a purchase, includes Starbucks, according to the clerk to have parking validated with <2hr being free at the nearby carpark.”

“Variety of material for churches and very friendly customer service. Highly recommend this place if you need anything for your church from babies to adults they have it all and their prices are great as well.”
“I’m an avid reader, and The Book Alley is now my favorite place to find rare and second-hand books. It’s a bit tucked away in Pasadena, but worth seeking out. The store is like a hidden gem with shelves upon shelves of well-organized, gently used books. I found an original edition of a Hemingway novel, which made my day. The staff is always friendly and willing to help with any requests.”
“Always appreciate curation and specificity. In this case, everything is cooking/food related and they had some products that I'd been looking for (cooking handsoap, etc.).”
“Amazing location, I drove from Long Beach since it was highly recommended to me by a friend I served in the Marine Corps with. Everyone was so pleasant and it felt just right in there. I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you.”

“Amadeus rocks! Small bookstore that carries books from Unamed Press as well as an assortment of new and used books. Book selection varies from classics to modern. They have more alternatibe narratives and authors than most bookstores. Great neighborhood and great staff.”

“I was a chaperone at a high school. The event was the Women's Empowerment for young Black women. I like what the university had for the young girls. However, I was very disappointed with the food, and where the lunch was taking place. I understand it was raining that day, and we had a tent. Other than myself, I'm pretty sure others were cold inside the tent. I wish they had a heating vent or something. I did not mind the variety that they had, but I was very disappointed that the food they served was cold. The only thing that was hot was the tomato soup they offered. I had the chicken tenders and tater tots. Overall I enjoyed myself as much as the students did.”
“An amazing asset to the community, beautiful location, kind people and a fun selection of books and gifts. They also have a wonderful children's story time on Sundays at 10am!”
“Very nice manga store! Have both Traditional Chinese and English manga~ the owner are super nice and helpful~ they even host some anime/manga related events sometimes~”
“Great, small bookstore with a lovely setting including a tree and circular bench in the middle. Because the store is on the small side, the selection in some of the topics/sections isn’t as broad or extensive as other bookstores. But the store more than makes up for it in other ways. They have great gifts for bibliophiles, fun temporary tattoos, fantastic branded T-shirts, and artistic greeting cards. And you can always have the store order a book you don’t see in stock! It can get a bit crowded on a Saturday or when they have events. But I don’t believe in taking off stars for something like that. The size and capacity is what it is. This is still a great bookstore to visit! Staff are friendly. And the location is good, right on same section of street as lots of other interesting businesses like an independent movie theater, taqueria, diner, nail salon, and more.”
