We very much enjoyed our 7 night stay in Amador Wine Country located in the scenic Sierra foothills. The Inn is located in the Wilderotter vineyards, and the setting is world class and quite beautiful. The vibe is relaxing and peaceful. The staff took very good care of us as we celebrated our 40th anniversary, and the Tuscany Suite is just marvelous. We have stayed at several really nice inns and Forbes rated properties, and the Grand Reserve Inn is exceptional.

Nearby we enjoyed visiting three vineyards - Casino Mine Ranch, PleinAir Vineyards, and Rombauer Vineyards. The scenery in the Sierra foothills is quite beautiful with hundreds and probably thousands of square miles of tall grass pastures, vineyards, and winding roads. The Fig Barn in Plymouth is a nice treat too.

We took two day trips to Napa Valley to fully appreciate Domaine Carneros and to savor Brasswood, Bistro Don Giovanni, and Bouchon Bakery.

The Wilderotter Vineyards and Teneral Cellars produce several excellent wines on the property that were made available for the evening wine and cheese tasting. Then we looked forward to breakfast as our three hosts served up tasty treats. This is the Inn that we hope to return to again and again.”

“We stayed here as a quick get away from home. Location is excellent to explore Jackson Old Town. Rooms were clean, beds and pillows comfortable. Hotel has great charm. Warm and cozy. Highly recommended.”

“Neat, old-style tasting room barn with great customer service. I'm not a Rosé lover ... and walked away with a bottle of theirs (and another varietal to boot). Unexpected find, again a winery happy to do small things well than mass produce a boring wine.”

“I stayed here for a mini-vacation. A tasty hot breakfast every morning was great. Toast, bagels, cold juice and cereal, potatoes, eggs and bacon/sausage. Great location next to Downtown Jackson and Jackson creek. Good thrift stores near by and several historical sites to visit, relics from the California Gold Rush Just a 30 minute drive to downtown Sacramento. Denny's, Walmart, Savemart, Burger King, subway, McDonalds and Taco Bell all just less then 5 minute drive away.
People in Jackson are very friendly and welcoming. Nice place to take time away from big city life.

Rooms: Large rooms, well kept. Really hot water. Comfortable bed. Dining area with couch, table and chairs. Big flat screen TV. Blackout curtains worked great.

Nearby activities: Thrift stores. Lots of quaint little shops downtown. Rockhounding at Jackson creek. Local theatre company provides entertainment on stage.

Safety: There is definitely a police presence adding a feeling of security and safety.

Walkability: Local shops, Denny's, Mel's Diner, Taco Bell, Cost you less groceries, CVS and Axes and Ale are all right across the street.

Noteworthy details: Kennedy mine, historical landmark is open to visit. A beautiful Vista point on top of hill offered a great location over the town of Jackson and a great place to take pictures.”

“We had a day trip to play a few card games. The staff are great and the casino is clean except for the smoke. Its not nearly as bad as Reno or Vegas. The smoke.

Beautiful drive to and from. Very scenic with the snow capped mountains in the distance.”
