“A hidden gem at Tahoe! Feels like old-style Tahoe, before the massive overdevelopment, yet with all of the comforts of home. The managers are wonderful people, and so accommodating. We stayed for 2 nights with our two dogs in cabin 17. So close to Tahoe City, yet in the woods right next to a state park. The cabin was very neat and clean, with a very comfortable bed. The small but complete kitchen was perfect for all of our meal preparation. Those who need to stay connected will love the high-speed wifi, as well as the big-screen television in the cabin. It got down to the mid-teens at night, yet we were all very cozy indoors. We took the dogs for a number of hikes in the adjacent state park, as well as to the beach. We can't wait to come back with the dogs to go snowshoeing during the winter. This is our new go-to place for all of the seasons at the lake. Thanks for a wonderful time!”

“Staff is wonderful and friendly! Been staying at Basecamp for past two years when skiing. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Great places to eat in walking distance.”

“What a great first impression Granlibakken made! The resort is tucked away south of Tahoe City. We saw the sign to go into the resort and was greeted with an adorable set of starry lights on lamps guiding us to the resort. The lobby itself was nestled a bit more deep into the resort (for us, we came in through the poolside so had to loop around) but wasn't hard to find. One of the things I really loved about the Ganlibakken was just how friendly every single person was and full of character. People were not only chill but just super helpful and kind. I had a broken zipper on my jacket and the staff at the front desk were so nice in just offering advice and trying to open the zipper as well. There was also an ice scraper available to utilize which was uberhelpful for us as it snowed a bunch when we were there. The rooms were spread out across several buildings throughout the property and the inside was super comfy. The heater worked well. The beds and blankets were super warm. The view outside of all the snow was wonderful. The shower was solid and had good pressure/temperature. There was a small closet, microwave, and fridge as well.Love also that the resort is created where you should be able to get to most of the amenities by walking. So even though our room was more north, we were able to walk to the restaurant pretty easily if we needed to without driving around as well as the pool. (Just be aware that pathways of course are slippery in the winter). I also loved the various activities around like the jacuzzi/pool that were open in the afternoon during the winter to of course the snow hill with sledding/lessons for skiing and snowboarding. Really neat and will review those separately. Even the food was all surprisingly solid when it was the last thing I expected!Slight pain points that the hotel was aware of!*The WiFi was super spotty. The hotel tried to help with more options for Wifi codes but unfortunately didn't quite work right.*The gym itself isn't too bad with some free weights / some cardio machines / a barbell. It was leaking though during our visit so some of the gym was inaccessible. Also recommended to bring your own towel and wipes as they weren't available in the gym as well as your own music.*Be aware that parking may fill up close to your room. Also, if you are planning on using the snow hill on the property, I'd recommend taking the car if you can so your supplies are nearby. Although that area fills up a bunch, parking is usually available at least to the sides of the snow hill. Can't wait to come back!”
