“I brought my brother and dad here after finding the company on Groupon. We had an amazing time blowing cacti. We chose different colors and the teachers made sure they came out looking beautiful. It was stressful, but I love the end result. Definitely recommend for families or anyone who is curious about glass blowing. I have the 3 cacti in my room to daily remind me of the exciting experience.”

“Emmeline’s art soothes the soul and creates a visual escape that is so often needed. Her wide range of sizes, from tiny miniatures to sweeping, bold canvasses, as well as stationery, books and calendars, allows for the perfect gift or statement in your own home or office. She is mesmerizing and an absolute joy to do business with. Additionally, her role as a life coach/advisor has had a positive impact on a multitude of people across the globe. She has guided me, while I live in Missouri and she in California, through personal transformation with wisdom and kindness, while being forthright with exactly what the next step should be. She is a treasure.”

“I was wandering along in San Francisco on my way to visit the bookbinder museum when I met the owner of The Box SF, Mark. When I told him I was interested in books and other historical items, he graciously invited me to enter his shop. The outside is discrete and belies how magical the inside space truly is. When you enter, you're immediately blown away by the vintage art and artifacts everywhere. Mark and his assistant, Israel, gave me a mini-tour and explained how the shop specializes in ephemera, which refers to items that were designed for short-term use (advertising prints, perfume bottles, soap labels, etc). The shop contains items from the mid-1800s to the early-1900s from around the world. Everything is in great condition and attests to the craftsmanship of earlier time periods. What was supposed to be a quick 20-30 minute visit turned into a 2-hour visit.Everywhere you turn, there's something new to take in. I love antique and thrift stores, yet I have never encountered anything as unique as The Box. I found some souvenirs to take home with me and even the wrapping paper was this cool, historical print. The Box is a treasure trove for people who love vintage, antique, or novel artifacts. If that's your style, you have to visit.”

“I had driven by Routes Gallery many times and always wondered what it was; today I was waiting for someone shopping next door at United so I decided to check it out. Routes has such a spacious and peaceful outdoor area with an assortment of plants and Buddhist and Hindu sculptures. Step inside and be immersed in more art and culture. There were Tibetan prayer flags, sage, bamboo, crystals, beads, and more. The singing bowls caught my attention. The owner of Routes was at the gallery; he was so friendly and I appreciated that he took time to talk to me and share his knowledge of the different bowls (they had metal and crystal). While I didn't buy anything on this visit to Routes, I enjoyed browsing the gallery and taking in the energy. I'll definitely be back!”

“Beautiful shop... My friends and I stopped in, and I found a beautiful sterling silver ring with a light blue stone. The owner offered great customer service and was very welcoming. A couple weeks later one of the stones fell out. I sent it back and he called me personally and then offered to replace it at no charge. Love that he offered and paid for shipping too. So nice to experience customer service at this level! Will definitely go back to shop and highly recommend this shop. Thank you again!!!”

“An excellent source for graphic novels for school age kids, especially if you want more diversity than the typical marvel or DC approach. When I found out my 1st grader was trans, this store helped me find age appropriate books that they could see themselves in. And they in turn learned stories about brown kids, black kids, and immigrants from other graphic novels there that I would never have known existed. Staff are excellent and know their stock.”

“Be sure to stop by Lola's next time you are in Noe. She has the nicest selection of gifts, clothing and accessories. “Came here on a whim...we were visiting from Hawaii. We were staying in downtown SF at the Palace Hotel and walked to the Ferry building. While there, we saw the ferry and said to each other, "eh, let's go take a trip to Sausalito!" We found our way to Scrimshaw Gallery, which was a short walk from the port, just off the main strip. Good looking woodworks from local artisans. Not sure why all the reviews of the grumpy dude with the mustache, but Mike was pleasant and helpful. He was quiet at first, I'm sure just exhausted from the many looky-loos filtering through the shop. Mike was more than happy to share the history of the pieces in the store. There were tons of bowls and great looking, well-made wooden boxes with handsome inlays. In particular there was a bowl, small, really nice markings and designs from the natural wood, that I was interested in. Mike explained the history of it, how it was made and how the unusual naturally burnt rim of the bowl came to be. I was sold! One big problem I had was hand carrying it home...but Mike offered to ship it...for FREE! Of course, I was weary about that because I wasn't sure if it would be intact when I received it...and I really loved this one of a kind piece. After all, it was hand turned from a local artisan who has since retired! But I trusted Mike and agreed to having it shipped (and THANKED him for doing it complimentarily!). I received it in the mail yesterday...fully bubble wrapped in a box...in PERFECT condition! Much Mahalo, Mike!”

“The hours I have spent at the sweet spirit ceramic are amongst the best of my life. Fun, instructive, creative, socially and emotionally fulfilling. Barbara is an amazing highly accomplished teacher who, apparently with no effort, follows each student at their level and according to their learning methods.Fantastic for children and adults alike, you will soon discover that you found not just a potter but a teacher of life.My little personal history: when I first arrived to the States in 1988 I lived in San Geronimo Valley and I noticed that households and backyards were adorned by whimsical cookie jars, marble runs, imaginative castles and ceramic pots and plates. With time my daughter follow suit and I too have my share of ceramic pieces to decorate the rooms: from perfectly thrown jugs and vases to a plate to hide the peas in and a pig house with a slide on the roof.At some point I discovered that I could join in and I did, following Barbara when she moved to San Rafael whenever I had time, inclination or room in my shelves for new pieces, and never regretting it.Watch out: it can be addictive in the best possible way.”

“4/9/24 This is a delightful shop operated by Bonnie and resident jeweler, Jeffrey. I appreciate Jeffrey's jewelry designs for men and women and that there are many pieces and price points to choose from. My favorite go to was Gallery of Jewels on 24th Street but it closed a year or two ago. I am glad to have a new, wonderful place to find unique jewelry (and more) created by local artists!”

“I love this gallery! An intimate experience of local Bay Area artists with a lot of variety in style. I also had a wonderful experience of hosting a summer solstice event here that had a great turnout, offering a tea ceremony and somatic movement session. The space is very eclectic so it is ideal to revisit many times and see it transform depending on the show or event.”
